This is a nasty piece of work, reflecting on my current mid-life crisis! I got my son of 13 years to play the drums on this. I got in my car and went to a empty car-park to do the vocals. I'm quite pleased with how bad it is! The tongue is in the cheek, I hope it shows...Here's the words, in case you can't hear them...

DEATH ROW

Forty nine years ago, I did a terrible crime
Pleaded guilty, got banged up,
And now I'm doing time

No-one told me what I'd done, they just put me away
Behind bars now and waiting,
For my execution day

'cos we're on death row, no-one can survive
On death row, you won't get out alive
We're on death row, you haven't got a hope
On death row- the electric chair or the rope

My sentence is coming to an end, there'll be no reprieve
There's nothing that you can do
And nothing to believe

Don't waste your breath,; don't call upon your imaginary friend
There's no-one there, but don't despair
You'll make it to the end

'cos we're on death row, the bell it 'tolls for thee'
On death row, no hope for clemency
We're on death row, don't go gently into the night'
On death row, just tell me who or what to fight

I don't - This is good!! Fun and entertaining - very good song writing skills.

If I wasn't dealing with a pile of paperwork, I'd be outside, which is probably where everyone on my side is. I could go out and mow my lawn, I suppose!  :D

It works for me, jackofall!!

Peace,

Mark

You sound like Pink Floyd!!This is a great piece.....nice drums as well!!!

A real rough-around-the-edges lament. I'm only 41 (only?!), and this is how I often feel, lol. I like it! Not so much funny as poignant!

thanks for your comments everyone. It always makes you feel better to get it off your chest, especially through music. Striking a balance between being offensive to other's beliefs and true to your own is a tricky one. I'm relieved it wasn't a lead balloon after all!....Hey a good name for a band...Lead Balloon...Led Zepplin...has it been done before?

I wonder how many of us have sat in a parking lot and tracked vox while passer bys made funny faces at us? lol

Well, this is a real change of style! I like the fact you're letting something out there and are prepared to share with us. This is great fun, great to do something with your son - what did he think of this? Would be good to hear some more with him. Great crazy laughing as well!

I do most of my vocals in the car (but locked in the garage) because I don't want anyone hearing me, so with you on that one.

Cheers,

Nigel
