Thanks everyone, the feedback is most welcome. I'm still a bit iffy about the vocals, as I did struggle with this, but your feedback is making feel a bit more comfortable with them.

Mike, take a shot, I'd love to hear some of your sad guitar on this. I also posted a fuller version on the main board with some simple guitar added.

For a good CJ sampler album, get "Studio". A great selection of their work over various albums.

Finally, I have to say without this forum I would NEVER have tried anything like this in a million years. It's really encouraged me to try things I wouldn't otherwise do.

Cheers,

Nigel

Hey Nigel, I just watched that video again by the CJ, I can't watch that damn thing without getting shivers all over, its her voice I think that does it to me.  Really cool version of this great song, I am very glad you decided to go this route instead of the usual heavy guitar approach most people get into with this song (myself included, I would have went all cranked to the max LesPaul if I tried this song for sure).  Good one.

Thanks ORH, I've posted a couple where I have sung before:

https://songcrafters.org/community/post-your-work/cassilda's-song-a-bit-scary/0/

But you may not have heard them as you didn't comment (you naughty person you). My vox on those are better, this was a tough one for me because it's just outside my range. And the CJ version is SOOOO good that I felt a bit of a pale imitation, but everyone has been very kind and I think now they are about OK.

BTW, put the full version on your pieplod, see the mp3 board. This is my take on the whole thing with a bit of extra guitar.

As Bluesberry says, the CJs version is one of those pieces of music that sends shivers up your spine every time you hear it. NY's version is great but I think the CJs version is even better. It really inspired me to do this, I'm glad everyone feels I've been true to the spirit of the song.

Cheers,

I think you did great!!  You seemed to really feel the emotion of the song.  Got to go check the video now. Wonderful job!!

You'll love the video Wiley. Your voice reminds me of Margot Timmins of the CJs.

LOL I have an accordian, but don't play it to well.  And I am like you takes time for me to get things done. Between work etc. and 48's lessons haven't been posting to much.
