A spiky and nihilistic take on Summer songs  ::)

MiM Strat, Ibanez bass, GB drums and vocals. Main thing going on here is a Boss DD-3T delay pedal. All recorded and mixed on the MBR.

did i catch a glimpse of your green dress
an emerald in the tatters of my loneliness
but you had tricked my eyes
and left me at the station
staring down the tracks but you don't arrive

like a forest fire
everything must go
a scorched earth clearance sale
black summer

you haunt these village lanes
like a funeral cortege
messing with the wiring
of the criminal insane
grass grows all around you
unruly as a child
the low, blood-curdling call of the wild

like a forest fire
everything must go
a scorched earth clearance sale
black summer

This is a great song! I especially like the choruses, and the sound picture you're painting. Also i've noticed that you're fond of using words that aren't so commonly used
in songs. In this case "cortege" was something that i actually had to Google. I'm not sure if my English is more of an American English, or British (probably a mix of both!),
but it's not often that i'm missing a word... Then again what do i know? :) But this isn't your only song where there's a more advanced word play going on.

Overall i like your personal songwriting style, and the fact that you're always trying to do something different. Like push the vocal melodies into new territories, and the attention put into small details. The guitar playing is also always ace!

I have been getting my Greeny fix in the car the past few days...you have just such a fantastic catalog of songs....and I find so much of interesting, not only musically but yes, as Zoltan says, lyrically...and play on words...

in a sense it is a painting of ideas in words...and that indeed makes the songs just that much bigger...

Kansas is my favorite band and I have pretty much listened to everything they have recorded in the studio a hundred times (over a hundred songs)... and I have them etched into my brain map..
to catalog your music in a similar way would take a long time...

another great song and some interesting noises in there too...

Maybe it was the name but your guitar tone is dead on with U2 work love it got my fix for today

Life is not about the number of Breathes you take, it is the amount of times your breathe is taken away

DarrenG / The Devil's Toupee

Great song for the summer fest. I do like the delay on the guitar, I hear the U2 comparisons with the music. Love the change in pace when the chorus comes in. Always love your lyrics and vocals.

I have 2 profiles on this site, (NOW COMBINED INTO ONE PROFILE PAGE)
One is a musical partnership with Keith Allen, ( we record songs as "The Devil's Toupee").
The 2nd one is for my other musical projects and collaborations. (DarrenG)
Thanks for listening.

All that greatness with just MBR (I'm surprised as Zoltan!)? super cool song, and perfect production. These day's fires got into the magic mirror of Tim's songwriting ...

I love the lyrics Tim! The softer opening verse and then on to the huge chorus....killer dynamics! Fine vocals and guitar work...well better than just fine, more like excellent! The title "Black Summer" is perfect for the SummerFest.

Look at you finding a Summer Song, and a gem of one too. Love it, has an 80s, Echo-ish vibe to it I think.
Love it brother.
Rock on!
