I worked out this fingerstyle song, I was thinking of the importance of my family and friends are to me and how it has helped me through some times lately and I wanted the song to feel uplifting and positive, like a fanfare, to reflect this.  And of course all the cyber-friends that I have on this wonderful site, and how much this site has meant to me over the many years. 10,000 posts worth of good times, sharing music, supporting each other in our music....that is what I was thinking as I was writing/working out this little song.

I decided to try to record it the other night, just to see how it sounds and how long it was...my son Keith was on the couch eating Potato Chips (you can hear the crunch), my wife was sitting in a chair beside him, they were chatting...I was in the adjacent room at the dining room table playing my nylon string classical acoustic...I set up my iPad and recorded a take...one of my 2 cats came up at the end and sniffed the iPad...giving a soft growl at the end. I didn't expect the voices to pick up as much as they did.

I wasn't going to use this take, I was going to re-record it when things were quieter, but on listening back, I relly liked the way it sounded, the family chatting, the cats around.... This is like a field recording of a typical evening around the Berry household....

great idea..and I was trying to visualize you playing this and I was like "wait, what?"  because you play so many notes so quick...
I am most exclusively a flat picker and have a pretty fast right hand... but to really get super fast this style is a must...so lately I have been doing it a bit more ... not very good though

I love your playing..

That's some really fine playing there!

Only suggestion, maybe EQ out or reduce the string noise? - not a complaint, just came to mind to maybe improve a very nice live performance. The background sounds mix perfectly!

This paints a nice image in my mind, with you playing while you're family are chatting ( and eating potato chips) in the other room. It sounds good with the sound fx in the mix.
Brilliant fingerpick style, real nice tune.
I have 2 profiles on this site, (NOW COMBINED INTO ONE PROFILE PAGE)
One is a musical partnership with Keith Allen, ( we record songs as "The Devil's Toupee").
The 2nd one is for my other musical projects and collaborations. (DarrenG)
Thanks for listening.

bluesberry, it's not the first time you leave me speechless with your fingerstyle ... I'll go adding you to my personal list of influencial guitarists of all time LoL (in one shot I take renbourn, fahey, grossman, van bergeik ... do I miss some?). Even the ambient is brilliant, congrats to the family for the backgroud (and the story behind) ... ps and wait  till JP or Alf listen to this LoL

Nice tune and lovely finger-picking style you have. Nice touch having the family talking in the background; did they know you were recording? Normally when I'm trying to record something I tell everyone to shut the hell up LOL

That is some playing. Sublime and superb - so far beyond me that it sounds otherwordly. The atmosphere adds a lovely vibe to this. Honest and real. And a very fitting way to celebrate your 10k!
