If I'm honest
I've lived most of my life
Somewhere inside my head.
Thought that knowledge,
the Uncarnal kind,
Was all I ever would long for,
And all I would ever need.

Hard to trust in this
Body I always wondered why he
made it out of Dust.
Hard to trust in another person's
body, hard to hope that love
might be more like gold,
not destined to Rust.

But when we kiss I am in Heaven.
Not Empyrean Heaven, You Understand?
But such Metaphorical Heavens
As are Neither Empyrean nor Atmospheric.

Now I can plainly see that you've
Got your doubts.
Men sure have their heads up their asses these days.
But if I'm being honest I think you prefer them that way,
and a man like me might not be
Your cup of tea.

I'm not going to use my way with words
To trap you.
I'm not gonna lean on my intellect.
I'm just here like every man who ever lived,
With my heart on my sleeve,
And begging you please.

the lyrics are way over my head...but man they are reaching for me!!! trying to pull me in!!!

crazy stuff man...like in big thoughts and ideas, big questions...

in the end most of us still like ice cream!

and the touch of a lovers caress.....  I was wondering where you've been Warren...

The origin of this one was that someone I know, who is also Catholic, mentioned a quote from Thomas Aquinas, where Thomas was talking about "Empyreal Heaven", and I was like, been a Christian all my life and have no idea what the hell is Tom talking about. Maybe what Tom needs is to fall in love.  And here's the song.

A very thoughtful song indeed. I really like the lyrics and I had to Google empyrean heaven to find out what it was....... Very nicely observed and some really good insights there, I like the gentle playing and vocal style, suits the lyrics very well.

Oh my, loving this, an acoustic with a touch of strings/pads is just a great combination.
The lyrics are just fabulous.     Willie

Great witty bite in this song. The soft, conversational vocals and added ambient synth strings remind me of the mysertious Canadian artist Lewis (check him out if you've never heard of him, Polyphonic makes a great video on the subject). A real rainy quality to this song, with an engaging lyric. I also have no idea what Empyreal Heaven means either. Sounds cool though... :)

Greeny

Beautiful playing, and I like the soft, poetic vocal that brings Leonard Cohen to mind. Comes across as intimate and conversational. Great stuff.

This worked really well Warren. Intriguing and kind of bewitching, the vocal style is brilliant, but also a big thumbs up to that guitar playing. Enjoyed that a lot.

Some fine acoustic playing Warren. The lyrics read like a poem. I agree with Greeny on the L. Cohen style of vocal. Very well done!
