I originally wrote this in 2016 but I don't see it on my jukebox so I assume you've never heard it before.  I use Trilian's acoustic  bass here. I recently went over it to "polish it up" a bit for your listening pleasure.  Hope you enjoy.

Why is our love so crazy?
Seems all we do is let each other down
I'll never understand the way you think
When you say that I'm not moving along your same lines
I'm trying to be everything you ask of me
Giving all that I am
I've been stretching as far as I can
Not far enough
And love's become too tough

Why our our lives so empty?
There's nothing here to save us from dispair
Have we forgotten how we felt when we gazed upon each other
when we fell in love
All the joy and laughter has given way to a sad disaster
What we treasured is gone
All that's left are the tears we both cry in the night
Cold and alone
Is there a way we could have known?

I once meant everything to you
You said you'd always stay
There was a time when we never were apart
There was magic in every way
Now it seems it was just a fantasy
Broken on down into lies

Why is our love so crazy?
Seems all we do is waste each other's time
You'll never understand
All the words that I said to you were nothing but undying love
But it was lost somehow
And you can't see beyond the lies you have come to believe
There is something I'd like to retain
Something worth the fight
If we could ever get it right

Love the sentiment in the lyrics John, sad and beautiful.
Your expressive vocals, bass and piano play are spot on.
Excellent over all arrangement and energy throughout especially in the chorus.
Nicely done
You definitely got it....... right

Those things we take for granted - when we're young and immature - will surely return to haunt us when we're old and insecure

Hey John you've put some excellent dynamics into this mix/production! Great vocal and lyric work. The acoustic bass is spot on and the short woodwinds harmony solo, at about 3:36, is beautiful. You do this smooth jazz style so well....you make it sound easy but we all know it's not. Well done!

That's some great song writing there, and also great playing. Fantastic and thought provoking song.

This is so beautifully melodic. The arrangement and the chord structure provide the movement and depth needed to support the lyrics. There's anguish and dissapointment, but there's still hope. Very nice.

Fabulous stuff John. That Double Bass is such a good choice. That is such a cool, sophisticated song structure with great instrumentation. Love it.

Cool flowing jazz from an expert in this genre. Great production, great vocals and that bass work is stellar, John. Love those chord progressions that I can't even begin to fathom. Nice little woodwind interlude too and that subtle orchestration works so well. The arrangement is stunning in its complexity and love those 'light and shade' sections. All in all a masterful piece of work, sir; well done.

I love your melodies. Thoughtful, poignant and never obvious. I especially like that 'Broken on down into lies' part. A really heartbreaking lyric, but such beautiful, classy work.
