Offering up a listen to our latest......a grammatically incorrectly titled folk ballad break-up song, "I Do I".  (hey, if the Beatles can title a song "Love Me Do", what's wrong with "I Do I"?)

I Do I      c2021

I don't recall the day I let go of your hand
Traces of footprints were blowing away in the sand
Our canvas reverted to white
You turned left I turned right
Love be dammed

A reticent sun gave way to an oncoming rain
Revealing a part of ourselves we could never reclaim
Something here just wasn't right
Quietly hidden from sight
Understand

I do I, you do you
I'll survive, you will too
I do I, you do you

Circular logic eventually cuts to the core
Give and receive 'til we just don't believe anymore,
Somewhere between truth and lies
The blind and the innocent rise
Here's the plan

I do I,  you do you
I'll survive, you will too
I do I, you do you

There's a reason why we're here, and for the blame,
Believers and the doubters,
Are we all the same?

I do I, you do you
I'll survive, you will too
I do I, you do you
Don't think twice, see it through
"Play because you love it. Don't worry about if it will ever make any money, just understand that playing is an end in itself, and you play music, it will make your life better. And, don't worry about being a star, don't worry about making money, worry about nothing, just sit down with your guitar and let it speak to you and that will make your life better. It will bring beauty into your life. It's a great thing to do."     ---- David Crosby

Great sounding song and nice production, that chorus sounds lovely!

Excellent stuff. I love the way this builds, the subtle keys/strings and bit of bass really create nice dynamics for the song, and the acoustic leads at the end sound great. Vocals and harmonies are spot on and the core guitar work is great, especially that little descending run. Very classy stuff, very well recorded.

Beautiful, sounds like something crisby stills nash and young would do.

Life is not about the number of Breathes you take, it is the amount of times your breathe is taken away

This must have been cathartic to write and record.

As someone who slips quotes and homages into my songs that nobody ever seems to notice: I caught the reference to the Dylan song. Well done.

This hit a nerve:

QuoteBelievers and the doubters,
Are we all the same?

You already had me thinking of my grammatically-challenged ex-wife, but when that line went by, I said No!, out loud.
