We said our goodbyes, ah, the night before
Love was in your eyes, ah, the night before
Now today I find you have changed your mind
Treat me like you did the night before

Were you telling lies, ah, the night before?
Was I so unwise, ah, the night before?
When I held you near you were so sincere
Treat me like you did the night before

Last night is a night I will remember you by
When I think of things we did it makes me wanna cry

We said our goodbye, ah, the night before
Love was in your eyes, ah, the night before
Now today I find you have changed your mind
Treat me like you did the night before

When I held you near you were so sincere
Treat me like you did the night before

Last night is a night I will remember you by
When I think of things we did it makes me wanna cry

Were you telling lies, ah, the night before?
Was I so unwise, ah, the night before?
When I held you near you were so sincere
Treat me like you did the night before
Like the night before

Coming in a bit late...

I think her name was Michelle, the girl I took to the homecoming dance my junior year. I didn't have a girlfriend all through high school, and I thought I'd finally found one. And, what do you know, the next day at school she let me know I was mistaken. I don't know how much longer it was after that day when I first heard this song, but POW – it took me back to that moment standing near the cafeteria, with my heart in my throat. If we're ever in Phoenix, Arizona at the same time, I could show you the exact spot.

This is my first time collaborating with Greeny. I didn't plan it that way. I was recording the lead vocals. My little girl (9 y.o.) was in the next room. She came in and said, "Daddy, can I say something about your singing?"

"Are you going to say something mean?"

"Uh... No!"

"Okay. What?"

"Umm...," obviously rephrasing what she was planning to on saying. "Keep trying."

When I listened to my lead vocals... Whatever she was originally going to say was probably more spot on. Man. This song.

I tried again, an octave lower. Sounded ridiculous. So I reached out to Greeny. Much thanks!

BTW: My kabosy is diatonic. There's no way to play the Gm6 Macca chord in the standard tuning – which is an open G (and there's no Bb note anywhere on the fretboard). So I tuned it to an open Bbm and just punched in those spots.

Great job guys. I like the little lead guitar break. It's simple but it sounds so cool. The vocals are awesome! Ted, is that you doing backing vocals? Only the credits don't mention it and it doesn't sound like Greeny to me, though I could be wrong. Maybe it's both of you? How many tracks were used for the backing vocals? Must be at least two but I'm wondering if there are more.

Yeah, that's me on backing vocals – two tracks. I updated the credits.

Thanks.

Brilliant cover! Love the instrumentation and sound, so original! Tim's vocals work so well on this and the backing vox are great as well. Huge fun and really well produced.

And you know what you should do with 9 y/o girls? Get them to sing on the track as well..... ;)

We'll see about that. I'm perhaps overly cautious about not trying to recreate the same experiences for this kid – even the fun experiences. I don't want to feel like my new family is a "do-over." On the other hand, we have written a song together.

Now that's how it's done.

True to the original, but still fresh and reimagined.

Great performance from the both of you.
