Another Kenneth collaboration and he asked me to post it  ;D

Standard procedure. Something out of Kenneth's bin that he wondered whether I could save / resurrect. As always, I was all over it on the first listen  :)

The lyric is what happens when you play your best / proudest work to a harsh domestic critic  ;D ::)

'The Best Song in the World'

I was jamming with myself
on the scrounge for unknown chords
when I happened on a freakshow -
what the butler saw

I said this is the best song in the world
but she said no it's not
she said no it's not
I said this is the best song in the world
but she said no it's not
she said no it's not
it's just an album track
it's just a throwaway

maybe I'm mistaken
I've been misled before
I thought I'd hit the jackpot
but I was drunk upon the floor
itchy trigger finger
the eternal optimist
aiming for an epic
the medusa kiss

I said this is the best song in the world
but she said no it's not
she said no it's not
it's just an album track
I said this is the best song in the world
but she said no it's not
she said no it's not
it's just a throwaway

I wish Kenneth could see how talented he is.

You two make quite the killer collab - this is great with an engaging title!

Another outstanding piece guys reminds me of Bernie and Elton, both so damn talented.
Tim again with his lyrical wizardry. Love the concept of playing your best / proudest work to a harsh domestic critic. very cool

If this is what's in Kenneth's bin I don't think we could handle what's in his vault. smokin track

Tim I also liked that hi back up vocal in the chorus. sweet

all of a sudden the volume went way way up....cool....kind of thought I was playing two tracks at once...

Kenneth's swirling, mesmerizing guitars/keyboards are always fine with me...

now couple this with Tim's cool guitar work and lyrics/vocals and you have a great song...perhaps the best song in the world...

A lovely swirling Kenneth backdrop with great dynamics and some great hooks, topped with a wonderful Greeny lyric. Oh, we've all been there, it's so well observed. The vocals and backer come together really well, I really liked the chorus, and the "medusa kiss" part really grabbed me.

Another great collab guys.

BerryPatch

Not just an album track and certainly NOT a throwaway ;D. The jangling guitars almost give it an XTC vibe, and lyrically it's also definitely up their alley as well. I love how the chorus propels forward as it does, perfect foil to the verses. A real slice of power pop heaven.

those big guitars remind me of RUSH and man is that great!
