This was probably the song I liked least from Sgt Peppers. However, it was the only one missing to finish the SC's versions of the Album, so I decided to cover it anyway.

After my second version, I started to regret having started it. The song is a lot more tricky than it seems. However, as I delved into the song, I started to like it more and more. The time signature is always changing, and the the song is put together by flawless Ringo's drumming (no more jokes of Ringo from me), and a really exquisite (and amazing) bassline from Paul's, always changing and doing odd unexpected things in the bass. Finally, all parts are connected by the brass section, and adds interest to the song and glues the different sections.

The only thing I still don't like, is the "good morning" part, which is, as you probably know, Lennon's sarcasm at its best (it comes from a Kellog's commercial he was listening while bored to death - some say he is actually singing "good mourning").

So... without a drummer, without a brass section, and without Paul, dasilvasings decided to do what it does best for the 3rd version. He cheated...

The time signatures are more or less the same, although I skipped some measures with Ringo / brass section linking the different sections. I also simplified Paul's bass line to keep my sanity.

I had to keep the "good morning" part untouched, but I couldn't resist playing backwards in the end, after all, something the Beatles would probably approve. Oh, and of course there is no place for a rooster in suburbia...

Recorded on Cubasis (Ipad), with Risa e-ukulele, fender jazz bass, and some 5 takes of dasilvasings, nightingale like, voice.

So... nevermind the bollocks... here's dasilvasings...

Very enjoyable, I love the up to date start  :D I agree, this is a really hard one to do and I think you did a great job.

You clearly don't live in my part of suburbia. Keeping chickens is a popular middle-class pursuit in some parts of the UK.......

I was thinking of covering this song as well as a sorta linked together version with Sgt. pepper reprise (since is was so sort). But I soon realized how complicated the song actually was and since it was never a favourite of mine anyway (possibly my least favourite song from the album as well) I didn't start recording.

I'm glad someone did it though, and a great job it is. I really enjoy the stripped down arrangement here while retaining my favourite elements of the track (the choppy guitar, some great bass and some great harmonies). I also really like what you did with the intro and outro with all the alarm sounds, definitely prefer it to the annoying animal sounds on the original! :)

This is really well done. Listening and following the structure is tricky enough, so to actually do a cover of it is a pretty good achievment. Sounds great and quite proggy too!

awesome job on this....I think it's the Greatful Dead doing a cover of the Beatles and a bang up job at that....
the Beatles, as simple as they sounded, were anything but....Paul McCartney is music genius...he does things on the bass while singing those leads and harmonies...there has never been and never will be another like him...having said that all the Beatles were enormously creative and talented which is why they didn't stay together... it just wasn't a big enough box to house all that talent...

great cover....

this could make a good alarm clock too....neat o...

Great take on a tough little tune. Timing and vocals sound great. Reverse vox at the end is a nice touch.
There are only three kinds of drummers. Those who can count, and those who can't.

Excellent take on a less-well known song.  Great job on a song that seems like it would be very hard to play. I especially like your "E-uke" playing!

I actually use this song to torture my kids in the morning to make them get up to go to school.

Dad (on seeing comatose kid lying in bed and late for school): "Alexa, play good morning by the Beatles"
Kid (upon hearing first notes): "Alexa, STOP !!!!"
Kid: "Dad, stop, I'm going back to sleep!"
