heard this the other day but never got to comment...love this one too...it's neat how Nigel can take the same music and make it unique for each singer....I like Nick's work generally and this certainly does not disappoint...

Excellent tune. Really captured the era. I can hear a bit of the Police in the music, but the vocal and lyrics take in a different direction. Nice work!
There are only three kinds of drummers. Those who can count, and those who can't.

I am getting the Sisters of Mercy reference... it has that dark eighties edge to it. This is so cool. Nick you have a perfect voice to pull this off. I loved those musical pauses in places... with those sparce bits of keyboards filling in they were suitably eerie. Excellent.

Another wonderful collab, I didn't pick out the joins and even if I did it would still be a great track.     Willie

I love this dark mood, very 80s 'dark' indeed. Nigel backtrack is just perfection, and ODH singing is so cool (I love expecially spoken/singed parts, kinda lou reed)!

Really good New Wave song .. reminds me a bit of Devo ..
The mix/master sound really good .. how did you master it ?
I find that I'm having problems trying to get the sound that I want when mixing/mastering either on the BR800 or on the Laptop DAW. Just looking to see how others do it ..
Thanks

Thanks! I record everything on the BR800 as individual tracks. I then extract the .wav files and import them into a DAW on my PC and do the mixing on that. Once I have a mix I am happy with, I master it in Izotope Ozone 9.

I think there are a number of things that have helped me with mixing:

- practice, and watching a lot of YouTube videos on how to EQ different instruments. I really like Warren Huart's "Produce like a pro" series.
- good studio monitors. I use Adam Audio T7Vs which are fantastic, but the T5Vs are cheaper and also have a good reputation.
- Izotope Ozone has a plugin called "Tonal Balance Control" which I use on the master bus to check the overall eq of the mix. I find that really helps ensure the overall mix has well balanced eq.

I use Izotope Ozone 9 for the final master. That is a really cool piece of software, a lot of good presets and also an AI-based system for determining an initial master setting based on reference tracks (or some simple options).

Thanks for the info.

That's basically what I did with the last song I just posted .. "Orchestral Night"
I started recording on the BR800 using a Yamaha MX49 and a Godin guitar , then transferred what I created on my laptop and mastered it via Ozone9 Element.
I got Ozone9 Element last week as it was free .. :)  .. I used the Master assistant and adjusted it a bit after..

I usually master everything using and old pair of Sony MDR-XD200 headphones as I do not have good Studio Monitors ..
Maybe it time I invest in both good Studio Monitors and headphones ..

Thanks again
