Here's my final submission for New Wave fest. Nick took my backer and actually cut it up and spliced it back together to change the structure of the song and then added vox and keys. I can't hear the joins, I'm amazed he was able to do that.

So here's 28 Days of Rain, another innovative take on my backer. Nick hasn't given me the final ok on the mix so I hope he doesn't mind me posting it.......

Very cool once you said stitched together I was listening for the sections but did not pick any up very well constructed and done

Life is not about the number of Breathes you take, it is the amount of times your breathe is taken away

Another great collab and that backing track is awesome with touches of The Cure IMO. Production is first class, guys and perfectly typifies that New Wave era. Great job; well done.

super cool.
I can't figure the splices out, really well done.
This backer gave a lot to work with, and it's another terrific collab!

Thanks for this, Nigel.  It's been a lot of fun and I'm really pleased with the result. And that backer was brilliant to start with.

I was hearing a Sisters of Mercy vibe in the backer and that's where I went with it. At the time we'd had weeks of rain (only a few weeks ago), and that's where the lyrics came from for me.  And here they are...

I'm as soaked as I can get
My clothes are drenched
And my body is wet
Am I ready for the coming flood?
When my head's in the clouds
And my feet's in the mud
—-
There's no sunshine here today
The sky is dark
And the clouds are grey
I'm so tired of the heavy rain
Yesterday, today
And tomorrow the same
—-
I can't live with all this pain
All the misery and shame
28 days of rain
And here it comes
AGAIN!
—-
This troubled weather has left its mark
I had to build myself an arc
Protect myself from the world afloat
But what good is a massive boat?
—-
And the rain has had its toll
It's in my head and it's in my soul
It's my life not what I like
I'm just waiting for the lightning to strike
—-
There's no sunshine here today
The clouds are dark
And the sky is grey
—-
Im not ready for the coming flood
When my feet's in the clouds
And my head's in the mud

Too Cool! Love the breakout at 2:30 - just takes you on a musical adventure bringing you back home to the comfort of the vocals and dark lyrics. Back out again at 4:09 to the exciting conclusion. Never felt too long or uninteresting which is saying a lot for a 5+minute song! Dig it! 8)

A match made in 80s MTv heaven. Spectacular collaboration, very early cure vibes, loving it!

Thanks, I must admit I was a little worried about the length when Nick redid it. He created some spaces which I was tempted to fill with something, but in the end I left it as is because I think it worked. Great to hear your feedback on that, I think Nick did a great job.

It's been really interesting to see how four different musicians brought their own style and feel to the same basic track.

Great collab guys, track and vocal work together, so reminiscent of those times, cool stuff enjoying the listen!

Oh I really like this. Great vocal delivery Nick and I like the spaces in the song.

Seemed to be over way to quickly.

Nice one boys.
