Was messing about with Garageband on my new I-phone creating an ambient synth loop to perhaps use as an atmospheric backdrop for a post punk type thing. Fired up the macbook and created a drum track then recorded the synth loop to a stereo track via the line in through my focusrite sound card. Then plugged in my HB Bass guitar trying for a Joy Division type riff, then plugged in my HB tele and played some jangly chords. Mixed that down and transferred to my microbr and did and early eighties style stream of thought pretentious moi vocal and lyric. A bit minimalist and maybe a tad boring,
but hey!

It is what it is.
And I can see the colours run
The layers peeled back the world undone
With fortitude we carry on
You can't look back you know you can't
So ever forward ever on
Don't know what's right or what's went wrong
Pull back the shades reveal the light
And maybe we can see for sure

Open your eyes and look around
Open your eyes and see
Open your eyes to what we've become
And all will be revealed

Too cold to answer too shy to swear
Beneath your guise there's no one there
Blind to emotion no empathy
You just don't care you just don't care
Alone again you wonder why
Just shrug your shoulders shrug your shoulders
It's not too late to open doors
And come outside and see for sure

Open your eyes and look around
Open your eyes and see
Open your eyes to what we've become
And all will be revealed
And All Will Be Revealed

Like it!!!!  Kind of hints at U2 for me... and they are fantastic in my book....

Yeah I'm getting a bit of U2 too. Love those drums and the guitar. Great vocals. It's all good !

Nice one, James! Fine atmosphere with really good 'post punk' lyrics. Excellent production, too!

I'm getting a bit of an Associates/ Cocteau Twins vibe from the backer, with unmistakable Jim over the top. Very atmospheric and I liked it! Definitely a clear New Wave vibe going on here and it hits the spot for me.

Kenneth

Classic ORH. I love your solo stuff James.

Got the Cocteau Twins vibe too. Great piece brother, very cool.

Fantastic
Shades of Joy Division for sure. Very emotive, really really good. A brilliant tune.

Excellent lyrics and vocals as I would expect from from an ORH song. First class post.   Willie

listening again....I would add that it was hard for me to not think this as a Honker track... seems like Kenneth and Jim can create some similar sound scapes...cool stuff!
