Cant Have That-Hilary Mix2

This is a little different. Originally the song was built around a conversation between two people (yet sung by myself only) which didn't work right due to only one voice so I asked Hilary to sing one part. She was reluctant due to the subject matter seeming like a man nagging his wife about her weight. Not quite what i was going for (had ment to be just the opposite) but none the less she added a rebuttal vocal with her own lyrics that over the top of part of mine, really took the song to a whole new level! Thanks again Hilary!

Here's my lyrics but only the 1st verse and chorus were used:

You Can't Have That - (c) 2021 K.J.Hill
-------------------------------------------------------------
CHORUS
=======
you, Can't - Have - That
         It's gonna make you fat

you, Can't - Have - Those
         because of what you chose

 you, Can't - Have - These
You know they're just a tease -    Oh Please
===================================
VERSE 1
-------------
I really want those chocolate cream pies
But they're gonna go straight to your thighs

How about this seven layer cake?
Oh come on, for goodness sake

Love when Ice cream melts in my mouth
Now watch the weight start heading south

That pizza pie is coming for me
Lose the carbs and be set free
-------------------------------------------------
VERSE2
-----------
What about a big thick steak
Might be more than your heart can take

How about a burger with some fries
You do know that the scale never lies

Maybe I'll just have some fruit
Now with that I can not dispute

They say that you are what you eat
But eat the wrong foods you might lose your feet

And here's Hilary's brilliant "comeback":

Don't tell me what I can and can't do
I'm done being bossed around by you
It's my body and I'll do what I want
If you don't like it . . . so what

Don't stand there saying I'm gonna to get fat
I'm not going to sit here and put up with that
So take a long hard look in the mirror love
And you'll see, what I see

Could you be the reason why I'm so sad
Your controlling nature is driving me mad
So back off and leave me be

Take a long hard look in the mirror love, and you'll see,
What I see

I'm beautiful inside and out
How can you not see what I'm all about
Take a long hard look in the mirror love and you'll see

It's you that needs to change not me

She certainly told you! Lol. Girl power! This is a great song. I think the two vocals work well, nice music and production. It sounds like it could be a song from a musical. Nice.
I have 2 profiles on this site, (NOW COMBINED INTO ONE PROFILE PAGE)
One is a musical partnership with Keith Allen, ( we record songs as "The Devil's Toupee").
The 2nd one is for my other musical projects and collaborations. (DarrenG)
Thanks for listening.

All the credit goes to Hilary. It was her idea to do the overlapping vocals! At first I had my doubts but after a few reviews, I was sold!

The over lapping vocal and interaction between the two really make this song and I applaud you for your ingenuity putting this together  it is a really well put together song
Bravo

Life is not about the number of Breathes you take, it is the amount of times your breathe is taken away

kenny mac

A very thought provoking song.
When I was very young someone mentioned I was over weight and it took me on a trip that was dangerous for a young guy.
Peoples words can cut like a sword .
This was a great concept, well done you two.
An excellent colkab.

ODH

Very nicely done both. Lovely collab. Has a kind of a Beautiful South feel in the lyric.
