New Wave Fest

Been in a bit of a bad phase for doing new songs. I have had a few failed attempts and have had a bit of a lack of confidence in stuff I've been doing. Finally got one finished though... hoping it gets me back into it a bit.

This is pretty heavily electronic based... everything programmed in GarageBand except one rhythm guitar track and a vocal track. Any comments on the mix welcome as this was mixed on headphones and also used a really poor bass heavy cheap bluetooth speaker for reference.

Kings and Queens

A stream of electrons from a
Cathode ray
Emitting energy of a
Another day

Celluloid empire
Chapter in time
Frozen forever in a
Legacy divine

They are the Kings and Queens
of the Silver screen

Flickering heroes brought
Back to life
Images dancing as they
Reignite

And as they rise once more the
Screen is alive
And in anticipation you can
Fantasise

I think this is a super song Mike! The style fits the New Wave fest perfectly. To my ears (with headphones) the bass sounds right in the pocket and the entire mix sounds good. If you were to change anything I would suggest bringing your cool vocal up a notch to give it a bit more presence. I think that would fill the song out nicely but I'm being overly picky here. This sounds great Mike!

This sounds really great to my ears too mike. I'm glad you're not stuck in a rut music wise now, It's horrible when that happens. I love this song, it's got that new wave 80's synth band sound. And it sounds great, love those synths. Great guitars and drums too. Really nice vocals and lyrics.even they have that 80's sound. Nice one . Darren.

Mike this is a great track. Excellent big synth sounds reminiscent of that 1980's new wave sound and the lyrics are brill. I can't hear any problems with the mix; everything is perfectly placed in its space and the synths are nicely complimented with that rhythm guitar.

More great Mike S music.... a real toe taper Mike... I'm genre fluid so for me this is just a great tune... nu wave pop...whatever...
Mix to me is good...yes as Farrell said vocals could be louder but not necessary... and I really like the lyrics...download

Mike , this is fantastic! What you've captured here is a brilliant time capsule song.
Recording sounds brilliant!

Sounds pretty good to me on the studio monitors Mike. And the song is excellent, it's really got a Depeche Mode/Soft Cell vibe, I really like the little jumping synth sound on the RH channel, and the rhythm guitar works really well. Synth sounds are full and rich and I like the "dark" feel to this one. The lyrics are pretty cool as well.

I liked this one a lot, this is a great new direction for you. I would enjoy more like this...... :D
