I heard the Peter Gabriel cover of this and was struck by the low vocal in the intro followed by octave jump.  I hadn't previously realized this was a cover of a song by "The Magnetic Fields". There is also a cool live version by "Airborne Toxic Event".  I had fun figuring out how to play the melody on the piano for the instrumental break.

UPDATE: I re-recorded the vocal trying to have a more consistent tone between the low and high parts.

Tracks:
- 2 acoustic guitar tracks (panned L/R; $30 guitar with 3 high strings nylon) recorded with AT2010 mic
- 1 track Casio CT-X3000 keyboard (playing chords in rhythm/accompaniment mode; "MellowStr2" patch)
- 1 track Casio CT-X3000 "Grand Piano" patch
- 1 vocal (AT2010 handheld condenser mic)
Recorded with Mackie Onyx Blackjack USB interface into Reaper

PS. I'm bummed out that I have not been able to do a Beatles cover yet because I have a bad cut on my hand that (mostly) stops me from playing guitar...so I have been mostly fooling with my keyboard.

funny I was just thinking of you yesterday....and voila!  this is a lovely song... I don't think I've ever heard it but...the way you sing it makes it very quaint....and that is the way a song like this should be...hope your hand heals soon...and don't worry you have until the end of June for Beatlefest...

Very nice indeed. I'd never heard this so it was a new one to me, and it's a really nice song. I think you did a great job here, the vocals aren't t hat easy and I think you pulled it off. Really nice gentle arrangement as well with a very clear mix and production. Very different, very good!

This is a new one for me but I like it your vocal is great on this one clear and up front
