Words and melody by Greeny, music by Flash Harry

Retired spies in search of meat
demarcations and dusty feet
red alley veins within a dream
cat-women with a saucerful of cream
pockets full of peccadillos
sunlight razor on my pillow
what is this golden alchemy
curling smoke and reverie
for holy relic bones
in Interzone

contraband for sale or hire
a tinderbox awaiting fire
juices flow in the afternoon
refugees from a deadbeat moon
karma on heat like a bitch
with a lightning bolt it lives
the graceful art of alchemy
chameleons of blue and green
lowering the tone
in Interzone

binoculars from Tibet
can you see me yet?
can you see me now?
zeppelin going down in flames
are you glad you came
for the red meat
in the marketplace

waiting for the monsoon now
tin-toys buried in the ground
painted seas of artefact
the stolen years that you can have back
the ice is poison in these parts
and drinks won't cool beneath the stars
souks with winding arteries
taken intravenously
the heat of bone on bone
in Interzone

binoculars from Tibet
can you see me yet?
can you see me now?
zeppelin going down in flames
are you glad you came
for the red meat
in the marketplace

in Interzone

there is no centre to this universe
no soft centre to this world
just the pleasures of the machine
bone on bone

Cool eighties vibe meets prog, incessant synth powering home the beat, reminiscent of Human League, Depeche  Mode and others from  that era.
Wordsmith Greeny has come up with a lyric which is poetic ,  intriguing, interesting and mystifying all at the same time, cool stuff  in my  opinion.
Great listen  enjoyed  it lots!

"Retired spies in search of meat"
had me at the first line...
music is cool and yes it reminds of 80s Eurythmics etc... I never heard that much of this style as it was used more sparingly in the US radios...great back for Tims cool lyrics and singing...

I was looking forward to this one when I saw it posted, and it doesn't disappoint. Sounds like a soundtrack to a William Gibson novel. I love the 80s synth references and the synth sounds and arpeggios are superb, they really create a great atmosphere and a great platform for the vocals. I love the simple but effective bass synth as well, it really moves the track along.

The lyrics are fantastic, there are some amazing images in there, and Tim's vocal fits this like a glove. Finally, the production is superb, you really nailed the mix and those synth sounds Mike. The percussion sounds are cleverly handled and everything sounds really good on my monitors. Very impressive work.

Great stuff guys, a joy to listen to.

This could have come straight from the 80's, really excellent song and music. I love the bouncy synths and that bass. I've already realised what a brilliant song writer " greeny " is. And it's a great collaboration. :) darren
I have 2 profiles on this site, (NOW COMBINED INTO ONE PROFILE PAGE)
One is a musical partnership with Keith Allen, ( we record songs as "The Devil's Toupee").
The 2nd one is for my other musical projects and collaborations. (DarrenG)
Thanks for listening.

This could easily be a real "lost archives" Depeche Mode song.  Great tones from the synths.  Great lyrics and vocal delivery.  The whole package.  Quality, quality, quality.  The only idea I have is could you manage to shift the key/pitch up half step or two maybe, if you could pull it off vocally, I'm just thinking it might be even more powerful.  Since the backer is synths, if it was recorded as MIDI, it is probably easy to manipulate/transpose that?

I had to look up souks because I'm not a smarty pants like you guys. Body moving, head bobbing music that is definitely making my afternoon Mike, and Tim great singing and writing. It would take me a week to get that much verbiage down and still have meaning/concept.

Think I'm going to play this in my car and find a Tim Horton's drive thru - Yes, there is still one in my area! French cruller and iced coffee probably...

Really giving that eighties vibe for sure. Vocal sits perfectly on top of the music... thumbs up for the production. I do like that single note bass underpinning the music, unusual but perfect. Great collab lads.
