I think this is the first time I posted a cover song here.   Now that it's been 50 yrs since Croz released this song, "Laughing" on his first solo album ("If I Could Ever Remember My Name"), one of my favorite albums, and having seen him perform it several times live, I thought I'd finally have a crack at it.  I'm doing a rather stripped down production version, just me (3 vocal tracks) and my acoustic in Croz's weird DGDDAD tuning. Not much in the way of mixing etc.   The original version includes a who's who of the Grateful Dead, Joni Mitchell and others on the track.....beyond my ability to replicate :)

Here's a link to the original song for those unfamiliar with it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hug_ovoGFOU

David Crosby - guitars, vocal; Jerry Garcia - pedal steel guitar;Phil Lesh - bass; Bill Kreutzmann - drums; Graham Nash, Joni Mitchell - vocals

Jerry on Pedal Steel, Joni singing the high register....It Doesn't get Much Better...basically the Dead with Crosby & Nash
"Play because you love it. Don't worry about if it will ever make any money, just understand that playing is an end in itself, and you play music, it will make your life better. And, don't worry about being a star, don't worry about making money, worry about nothing, just sit down with your guitar and let it speak to you and that will make your life better. It will bring beauty into your life. It's a great thing to do."     ---- David Crosby

interesting tuning... I might have to try that... I don't know this song...  but when I saw who was covering it i knew it was going to sound really good...and it does...I will have to check the orig...

great guitar sound and recording and your vocal at the high end reminds me of Greeny a bit...but the vocals overall sound good and kind of remind me of when I listen to Seals and Crofts and America in their more live versions...great stuff..

very beautiful cover, the voices are formidable, one feels well the print Crosby in these choruses, and I adore the tuning in D I often use the Open D and the DADGAD
I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

I'm not familiar with this David Crosby song but it's definitely his style. Great acoustic guitar and vocal work here!

Not a Croz song I'm familiar with (I'm an early Byrds fan - I really need to dig into IICORMN someday), but I'm digging that tuning and the Crosby-esque harmonies.

Nicely done.

Very nice job on this.  Don't remember the original, but I'm equally impressed with your vocal performances and guitar playig and guitar sound.  Wish I knew how to get that sound from a recording of one guitar track

I don't know the original, I missed out on a lot of good genres when I was younger as my tastes were pretty narrow. But what a great job. The recording sounds good to me. Guitar sounds nice and full. Great vocals and yes, it's a lovely song.
