Hello guys

it's just a try...

I made a lap steel track "on the fly" it's not mixed I just layered Mike, Warren and me at the same volume level
I went to about 3mn, should I continue in this direction, clear sound? saturated? I did not understand well where was the solo part compared to Warren's singing

I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

Hi JP,

Just had a listen to that mix... it's very mind bending / psychadelic and I always like that :) ... I say keep going and mix it as long as Warren is ok with that too, we can have more than 1 version of the track anyway... (is there a wee bit of clipping on the lap steel?) Just attaching a photo of me for your project...

Cheers

Well my voice was not sure what pitch it was going for some of the time.

My feeling is the more distorted and saturated, the better, for the pedal steel.

It should also probably make an entrance at some point in the song.

I would say, assume that that call goes to Mike and send him a wav file of just your part and I think he should chop and mix it in.

Another idea is for my vocal to end and go to a LONG musical outro with the pedal steel in a separate B section of the song.

Well, guys,
I'll finish a complete lap steel track that will make the whole duration and I'll send it to Warren, if he agrees, who seems to be very good at mixing, and as he started mixing in first intention it would be nice (and I'm curious to hear the result) that he makes the final mix

is it ok?

ah yes Warren think to send me a picture of him mixing, for the souvenir video...

Mike suggested, I like the idea of an instrumental version and I'm going to work on it in parallel with Warren's sung version (which I also like a lot...)

Some information Mke, please

1/could you tell me the exact tempo
2/ there are a lot of sections with different chords and key, do you have a grid/frame of the piece with the chords?

I started to work a little on the instrumental version ..between 2'48" and 3'09" I do a saturated lap steel part, in the next part it would be nice between 3'07 and 3'53" (or may be shorter from 0'00" to 0'37" on the sample) to keep only Mike's guitar (very nice) and superimpose a kind of drum "solo" ( Hardlock?) ;)
