So this song is pretty special to me, I wrote it a few months ago for my 2nd daughter that just turned 18. I have a few other songs that I've written for her over the years and I'm having them pressed onto vinyl for her graduation present. I've spent quite alot of time on this, I think it's pretty good...& happy too; kinda big change for me lately. Drums and synths are from garage band & I used my Irig & Amplitude on my Hilo Baritone uke.

1 clean rhythm uke (stereo_)
1 effected rhythm uke(stereo)
1 effected lead uke(stereo)
1 bass
1 drums (stereo)
1 synth pad (stereo)
1 lead synth (stereo
1 lead vocal(stereo)
3 background vocals( 1 stereo, 2 mono)
This Embers Light

The best part of a beautiful day
perfect words that you needed to say
the moment that you know
everything is going to be alright
nothing shines as bright
as this Embers light

The laughter that breaks and awkward quiet
the courage and confidence to go out and try it
the feeling of floating
when the world seems so light
nothing shines as bright
as this Embers of light

This Embers light
can cut through the darkest of night
she sees past the wrong
To find the right
she can let go
but still hold on tight
nothing shines as bright
as this Embers light

Because the Hook brings you back
I ain't tellin' you no lie
The hook brings you back
On that you can rely

This does feel quite different for a Hook song / production. In a good way. All the elements do seem very polished and considered - and nicely balanced between the real and the virtual instruments. Reminds me of Scott Walker in places - kind of classic crooning territory but with a modern twist. All sounded great on my headphones - nice bottom end and good separation on all the parts.

Most importantly, it's a fantastic performance that I hope will be appreciated! I bet the vinyl will give it even more warmth.

Rock on!

It's a beaut Hook. I think she will realize her father's love. She'll treasure it years from now.

A really nice ethereal vibe, really light and dreamy. Yeah, really like this one. It's a lovely tribute and I can hear the love in this tune.

Everything sounds well balanced to me...  sounds great in headphones anyway and the vocal sits very well in the mix.

Life is not about the number of Breathes you take, it is the amount of times your breathe is taken away

I got to this too late...

It's a full blown production from the Hook emporium of fabulous tunes, which is quite a departure.

Full and lush and fab. This will be a unique piece of vinyl.

This is a real beauty, Mr. Hook. Lovely tribute, and on vinyl will be a super gift to your daughter. I too get a bit of the Scott Walker vibe that Greeny mentioned - a song like this would not have sounded out of place on 'Scott 4'.

Great arrangement (that synth is especially silky) and vocals - it's a winner!

What a great idea as a present for your baby who is nearly all grown up.  It goes by fast doesn't it?  One day you're helping your little human learn to ride a bike, the next thing you know they're out in the world making their own way.
