Mike, I just wanted to add that there's more than just the quality of the mic that can really impact your recordings. A lot depends on your preamps / signal chain & something as simple as mic placement can really make or break your tracks. Definitely worth a look into to see if you can accomplish what you're after without the need for spending additional money. Or be like me & and spend additional money on gear you don't really need anyway

It's a journey.  If you don't own an SM58 you won't be sad if you add one to your arsenal.

When your budget can take it you may want to find a $500 large element condensor, and make sure you have a preamp that goes well with it.
