BeeGeesFest (banner image missing)

This would have been the only Bee Gee's song that I would want to do...I love alot of their music but this one is so special for so many reasons... my brother in law (God rest his soul), when he was dating my sister (she was 16 when they married, pregnant, he was 20) and I was very young (9) I would ride around in the car with him (them) and Alan just loved music and to sing...and he could sing too...and this was a favorite of his... so I did it in his remembrance...and it is a great song... I could not do it in their key... I transposed  with a little help... and I think this is about as good as I can do...
Harley Benton guitar... in the rhythm position for 3 guitar tracks (2 panned to 30 l and r and one used sparingly in center).  Using the BR1600 effects (classic distortion P003)(twin tweed) and MS1959 settings
HB lead guitar single coil on lead pickup... MS1959 setting with pickup cranked all the way
Bass Schecter through the Boss ME-25 with a touch of distortion (just a touch)
Alesis Nitro drums played to a track I made with a click track because this was hard to keep slow...
vocals are 2 tracks of lead panned right and left with reverb.... backing track centered with a tad of delay and reverb

I mixed this in headphones because it's late and the kids are in bed... and I'll check it tomorrow against the monitors... and my son Markus gave me the "I actually like that one"....very enthusiastically as i was doing the vocals....which I did the vocals right after the 1st guitar track and guide drums... (I never do it that way)

**** This is a new mix to give a bit more intstrument into the vocals and a little more lead guitar in spots...

I like the way the lead guitar line follows  the vocal line in the chorus.
That Harley benton sounds great by the way.
Its been great hearing all these different takes of the songs this festival.
Well done.

Great version. I really like the sort of grungy take you did this song. You totally nailed the harmonies in the chorus, and your playing is throughly excellent. Love seeing this festival so active

This was the original mix that I posted... I made a new one that is at the top.... I liked this mix but when I came back on the ref monitors I felt it needed a bit more guitar and bass into the vocals and a tad less drums....  I like both mixes for different reasons....

Love your take of the song and the chugging guitar work really sets it off I know how hard it is to cover Bee gees but you got it on the vocal too
Bravo

Life is not about the number of Breathes you take, it is the amount of times your breathe is taken away

Great grungy version of this classic Steve, it really works being slowed down and grunged up. The guitars sound great and the lead work is very tasty. Really liked the way you approached this.

I also liked your inside out mix. Having the main vocals outside the instruments is definitely unconventional but it seems to work really well. The vocals are still powerful and present in the mix, and through headphones it sounds fab. Very nice work indeed!

EDIT: Sounds great on monitors as well. Nice work Steve!

I didn't know this song - to be honest I only became aware of the Bee Gees during the 70's so I don't know much of their earlier songs. Listened to both and I've got to prefer your version with the rockier guitars - much better listen than the original !
