Had some time during the week and  come up three guitar tracks some bass and drums.
I'd always wanted to do a collab with Greeny but never had although both of us had been here for years, so I asked if he would and this what transpired. To say I'm pleased is a total understatement.

excellent work gentlemen....love the vocals and backing vocals especially.... the guitar sounds are delish!  very nice song structure...lyrics seem quite interesting...
would like to hear a bit more about who did what....

"we won't comply, the way we used to do"....love that...the rebel in me...  cool ending too

Was a real pleasure to collaborate with John for the first time  ;D

Here Come the Dazzle Ships

when the rope is slipping through your fingers
but no-one on the mountain wants to catch your eye

you can bottle tears of grief
flip the world and see what's underneath
13 black cats looking for the cream
you think it's just a dream
but is it just a dream?

here come the dazzle ships
like having sun in your eyes
can't see the wood for the trees
can't tell the sea from the sky

cardboard houses folding
in contaminated rain
talking dollies walking down the stairs
we won't comply the way we used to do
as the clowns in the shadows catch us unawares

here come the dazzle ships
like having sun in your eyes
can't see the wood for the trees
can't tell the sea from the sky

cardboard houses folding
in contaminated rain
talking dollies walking backwards down the stairs
we won't comply the way we used to do
as the clowns in the shadows catch us unawares

well you can bottle tears of grief
flip the world and see what's underneath
13 black cats looking for the cream
you think it's just a dream
but is it just a dream?

As someone who knows what dazzle ships are (and also who remembers the OMD album of the same name....), I had to jump straight in on this one as soon as I saw it. And despite being slightly disappointed by the lack of historical content ( ;) :D), I loved this! A really different style of track from John, I love the guitar sounds and feel of this. My favourite bits are the change at the "cardboard houses folding" section and the solo that comes after this. The track is great but elements like these really lift it to another level, the dynamics of the change are brilliant and the solo fits the track superbly. Lovely work all round from John, the drums and bass fit beautifully as well.

And it's always a good idea to collaborate with Tim. The lyrics and vocals are wonderful as always. The "Here come the dazzle ships" part is stunning, it's a killer lyric but the vocal melody and harmonies combine with the music in a totally sublime way. I must admit I go a bit funny at that point.

It's superb. Well done guys.

Hi guys thanks for the replies, glad you liked it, but it Greeny,s vocal and lyrics that make it for me.
All the guitar effects are from my Yamaha THR 5 amp, the guitar was a Yamaha Pacifica 311H which has a P90 in the neck and a humbucker at the bridge. The bass was the 311H with the BR80 bass effect, on board drums from BR80, all recorded on BR80.

Love the feel of this.
The bass and drums carries it along splendidly, then Tim's vocals takes it over the top.
So many cool lines "flip the world and see what's underneath"
"13 black cats looking for the cream" "cardboard houses folding
in contaminated rain"

Beautifully done guys

Psychedelic rock sound, great song. Love those jangly guitars and the lead solo. The vocals and music are awesome guys. :)
I have 2 profiles on this site, (NOW COMBINED INTO ONE PROFILE PAGE)
