Just piano, vocal and a bit of cello. I have no idea what it's about - I just started playing and went where the music took me. I'm enjoying the sound of new and unknown (to me) chords on the piano. Thanks to Max and 1971 Billy Joel for making me think about piano differently, and Hilary for putting zombies lyrically in my mind (I'm also a massive fan of every zombie film and series ever made...).

All recorded on the MBR. The piano is an electric one going into the MBR with a guitar cable (with a bit of hiss). It's all raw and real though.

I used to have the world at my feet
it was curled up like a lion
reposed in defeat
or Napoleon in furs in the Russian snow
In retreat on the long road home

but now I'm lacking confidence
a buckshot raven
sitting on the fence
and i can't find the jabs or uppercuts
to punch out of this dead town
and act real tough

to punch out of this dead town
and act real tough

don't try to match them
shot for shot
when they're spilling their guts and they're reeling
flaming sambucas on every street
when you're on a bar crawl with the zombies
when you're on a bar crawl with the zombies

I scaled the heights but got vertigo
and now I can't close my eyes
wrecked upon a reef
like the hesperus
it's all statistics and damned lies
it's all statistics and damned lies

don't try to match them
shot for shot
when they're spilling their guts and they're reeling
flaming sambucas on every street
when you're on a bar crawl with the zombies
when you're on a bar crawl with the zombies

Loving your new role as piano player works perfectly with your vocal loving the lyrics too ... more please ... I too love a good Zombi movie I don't think I took a breath watching world war Z

Wow. How do you do it? Another change of direction, superb piano playing' more inventive lyrics and a wonderful end result. I really like how you handle the piano part, there are some lovely touches in there (like the little twiddly bits over "it's all statistics and damned lies") and the cello parts just add an extra touch of class. The vocal performance is very well controlled to make the most of teh piano part (working with Max has paid off  ;)).

Considering your simple recording method here, it sounds fantastic. Well done Tim, loved this.

Hilary

I can't do violent films I'm too sensitive but I love an ironic zombie movie especially if it's a musical (bit niche) - my phone won't play anything on here all the way through so I'm really looking forward to hearing this properly later.

What I can hear sounds bloody fantastic though!

Great piano playing! Good to bust out an old piano song once and a while and you play yours so well. The surreal lyrics are fascinating as always

Beautiful Tim, the words actually mean quite a lot to me right now in a surreal sort of way.

Been there, flaming Sambuca's and all, spillin my guts.. yep!
Beautiful work Tim. Another style of music that fits like a glove for you.

I enjoyed this and the piano sounds great - would not guess you are a novice player!  Piano sound also sounds realistic, so you have a fine unit.   Among the lyric, the chorus line/melody "don't try to match them shot for shot" really stood out as catchy.

If you were on a bar crawl with a zombie would they be the nominated driver as technically they can't drink or am I overthinking this?

I really love that I remind you of a zombie  :)

Ana and the Apocalypse - now there's a zombie movie.

This is great Tim - loved it!

We should have a Zombie Fest . . .

absolutely fascinating, if it makes sense for a song with zombies in it. But hilary docet here lol. I love the nuances enormously, and the combination piano-cello-zombies is sublime. And if I have to share some credit with Billy joel for having another piano man here, well I'll take it lol!
