I always liked this song as a kid. It has a dark heart for something with such a soft (some would say cheesy) pop arrangement. I love 70's cheese though.

This is my very scaled-down take on it. Epiphone Les Paul (my stripped mahogany humbucker one), improvised piano noodling (inability to play = avant garde  ::)), and some Thumbjam strings.

Lovely cover Tim very melancholic.
However i didn't realise Helen reddy had passed away. Bugger.

I like your interpretation of this, Greeny. You've managed to make it your own and create your own kind of melancholia in your arrangement.

Excellent performance! I'm not familiar with the song or artist but a really interesting lyric in this one. Nice use of subtle strings as well, really fleshes it out.

What a great performance, Greeny, I love all the voice, the guitar, the piano, the strings and especially the mix ... impressive!
I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

I don't remember the original (I was probably too busy listening to Krautrock in 74) but I really liked your version. You really captured that slightly dark edge to it and I thought the piano noodling was great. Some really nice dynamics in there as well. Great vocals, great production, great cover. Loved it!

I'm not familiar with the original but enjoyed this very much.  Like the "stripped down" feel with no drums and vocal which shows great emotion.  I was wondering when you do something like this do you just do the tempo "loose" (by feel), or do you use a click track while recording?
