He and Return to Forever expanded my brain when I was a teenager. I can remember lying on the floor listening to my brother's copy of "Hymn of the Seventh Galaxy". Again and again and again.

Sorry to hear that. I have his 1976 "The Leprechaun" album and the Return To Forever albums "Romantic Warrior" (1976) and "Musicmagic" (1977). I also have the 1988 album "Eye of the Beholder" by the Chick Corea Elektric Band which I think I'll listen to tonight in his honour. Great stuff.

This sucks. He was active over most of the pandemic and playing well. This cancer must have been super aggressive.

Caught him 3-4 times through the years, once with Lurker screaming at the stage, "You are the $hit!" repeatedly. I will be putting on In a Silent Way and Tribute to Jack Johnson.

What a huge loss. Brilliant musician, composer, and educator. Loved his music, in all its incarnations.
Not many can also claim 23 Grammy awards.
RIP Chick.
There are only three kinds of drummers. Those who can count, and those who can't.

BerryPatch

Very sad to hear. Amazing keyboardist. The interplay he had on the Fender Rhodes with the rest of Miles Davis's band was immaculate. His work on fantastic albums like Bitches Brew and On The Corner were an essential part. Hope he's playing that great gig in the sky as of now.

So sad...as BerryPatch, I loved his playing with Miles...

So sad to hear this news. I first became aware of him through return to forever, then dug and dug into all I could find out about him.

Like 64, i also have an original copy of The Leprechaun. I'll admit it hasn't been played in a long time but i've got it queued up for tonight in headphones. Chick and those other cats are musician's musicians. He was a real talent. R.I.P.
