I was intrigued by this popular song from England...I did an instrumental cover, a few days ago, inspired by John Renbourne (guitar, low wisthle and dulcimer)
..and then I found a version sung by Joan Baez, Dylan (?), Donovan, Pentangle ..and many others but with a totally different melody from that of John Renbourn's instrumental version.
..by searching a little on YouTube I finally found where the Renbourn version of the melody came from: Martin Carthy

In the cover I did the first 3 verses in the Donovan version and the 4 verses according to the Pentangle version, Joan Baez etc...

There are still 3 verses left if a female voice would like to finish it, it would be my pleasure. :D ;)

This is lovely, JP. I'm a big Donovan and Pentangle fan, but I don't know the Martin McCarthy version. It's really interesting to hear English folk with a French accent. Makes you sound like a wandering medieval minstrel :-)

Fantastic playing and arrangement as usual.

I was sad when it suddenly stopped.

thank you guys

for Greeny  (and others guys) the  wiki article about the trees they grow high https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Trees_They_Grow_So_High

...and the Martin Carthy version at the origin of john Renbourn's instrumental version  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LnBXacUdoC0

, dear Greeny this song is too long for my poor french accent  ;D, I would like someone to complete it ... I will try to propose it in collaboration.

Lovely JP, this is quite different from the other version and you did a great job here. Your voice reminded me a bit of Donovan on this, it's gentle and has a little vibrato like him. You did really well with this one, especially the vocals.

Very enjoyable and I like Tim's idea that you are our wandering minstrel (well maybe our shut indoors minstrel at present.....).
