Hi all, I was reading the other day about people who are convinced aliens are trying to take hold of their brains and the take control of their lives. I thought it might a good topic for a song, so with a passing nod to Pink Floyd here it is. Hope you enjoy, stay safe.       Willie

Fender Tim Armstrong Electro Acoustic, GarageBand

I hear the voices in my head
They tell me what to do
People say that I'm easily led
And I rather think that's true

Wrap the foil around my skull
Stop the waves from coming through
But I think they've found another way
Of telling me what to do

I could tell you I couldn't stand it
But that wouldn't be quite true
And which ever way you handle it
The waves keep coming through

Instrumental

Turn my TV to the wall
They won't catch me out that way
I don't listen to the radio
But I still hear what they say

I hope you say a prayer for me
I'm lost, can't find my way
And even on the darkest night
I still hear what they say

Thought at first the tune would be humorous. Wrong. After spending 15 years full time on locked inpatient psychiatric units working with many psychotic, delusional patients with Schizophrenia, this tune really struck a nerve as i have been retired for over 10 years now and don't think about those days much anymore. The chords, the lyrics, and your excellent vocal delivery generate vivid images and memories. Nothing sadder than reality sometimes, and you really nailed it. Liked the swelling synths in the last verses..a nice dynamic. Serious music for a serious subject....a really excellent tune Willie. Great songwriting. Bravo!

Great song! The lyrics are particularly striking. As Pine put it, I thought it would be a lighter song when it started but as soon as you started singing the words just cut right through. I like the Floyd nod in the solo as well. Very well done :)

Life is not about the number of Breathes you take, it is the amount of times your breathe is taken away

Brilliant stuff Willie. A really moving song. Mental health issues affect so many, but this is a lovely little tribute to those that suffer from them. Loved the intro and outro... very different. (really good production too).

Lovely sounds on this Willie....very nice sounds.... I was going to say that most everyone thought that lady in Terminator was crazy too.....hmmm...maybe the normal folks are the crazy ones... not to make any fun of a serious subject... we just never do really know what goes on in folks heads....

A very nice shift in direction here Willie. I really like the combination of the electro-acoustic and the keys/pads, this really created a good vibe for the vocals. It's a really gentle and dreamy sound you created which is the ideal backer for the vocals. A really interesting subject, and you handle it very well, some really clever lines in there. Very nice instrumental break as well, and as always, beautifully put together and produced really well.

Very cool indeed. I liked this one a lot.
