And now for something completely different. This is what happens when you record at 3am. heh

This is actually a quick take for a band project I am working on. Hopefully it goes someplace. Band is tentatively called HATE BLISS KILL GROOVE. We'll see...

It will most like change though due to it sounding at little too much like someone else. I'll leave you to guess who that is. ;)

This is also the debut of me actually doing vocals. So be nice ;)

PS: Although, I definitely know that this will most like be not the kind of thing that a lot of you might listen too. :)

Lyrics:

They tell you that the pain that you feel
Is all in your head
There ain't no end to the money they  steal
Until you are dead

A puppet show with their hands up their ass
Wanna rule the world
Wanna rule the world

I hear them talk but their mouths they spew ash
Good boys and girls
Good boys and girls

Then they lie and say it's all up to fate
And we stand up and shout
The lies they tell us  just to get us to hate
And there isn't a doubt

A puppet show with their hands up their ass
Wanna rule the world
Wanna rule the world

I hear them talk but their mouths they spew ash
Good boys and girls
Good boys and girls

A little reason
Is too much to ask
Because they're never to blame

It's all the sheep here
Hide behind their mask
It is them who is ashamed

They tell you that the pain that you feel
Is all in your head
There ain't no end to the money they  steal
Until you are dead

A puppet show with their hands up their ass
Wanna rule the world
Wanna rule the world

I hear them talk but their mouths they spew ash
Good boys and girls
Good boys and girls

Cool tune! - mysterious & erie sounding - flippy fx on the vox dude - how did you get that distorted echo sound - using a guitar patch on the MBR?

I might want to try something like this when I get around to singing attempts...

Thanks

Yes, i just used a guitar patch. I have an Audio Technica Pro 1 mic that someone gave me. It uses a 1/4 input, so I plugged it and used WET LD I believe. Ad then I cupped my hands around the mic and sang into it almost touching it. That seemed to up the distortion a bit on it.

Dude - You need to dig deeper in this forum!! ;) :D

I find this to be your best post yet - lots going on with a super slick groove. Although I love the vox effect, I can still tell you have a good voice and it should probably be dried up some to let more of the clean sound out. All in all a great first vocal debut, though!

Launched,

Didn't mean to imply that everyone only listens to a particular kind of music. Almost everyone who heard it before I posted it started off with saying the same thing: "It not the kind of music I listen too, but..."

Cleaning up the vox a bit is the same exact thing my wife said.

Thanks for the feedback ;)

'A puppet show with their hands up their ass'... that's a great lyric (amongst many good lines in this song). I like this a lot. You'd be surprised at the eclectic tastes on here. I can hear a bit of 'Nightclubbing' by Iggy Pop, but it's like it's being sung by Marilyn Manson. This is a tight, dark and very listenable song. It definitely drew me in. I'd take just a shade of effect off the vocals - I think they need some distortion, but slightly less than what you have here. It's great work!

SdC

I for one am NOT going to say it's not my thing coz it IS; a bit of Alice in Chains, NIN etc.
Very good. Great lyrics. Super atmosphere.
I hear clipping on one of the tracks; pretty sure it's the vox recorded too loud, or mixdown too loud. Overdrive/distortion=ok; clipping=not ok.

Greeny,

You and SdC are right. I think I left the vox effect so distorted to cover up my vocals  :-[

I updated the name as "The Puppet Song" That's what my daughter calls it now. She can't hear the words, she's only six. But you should hear her interpretation of how I sing it.

Of course, when asked, her favorite band IS System of a Down. ;)

Ferryman_1957

Very cool, this one had slipped down on my "to listen" list. Great lyrics, good vibe here. I'd be tempted to really up the riffing guitar but I suspect that will happen when the band gets hold of it. I love the vix effect - what started as an attempt to hide you vox turned into a very effective piece of recording!

Cheers,

Nigel
