BLOWN TO THE SKY:  a tribute to the UK rock invasion of the 60s and 70s and more specifically to Bad Company.  I wanted to go very minimalist (3 piece sound really) as this developed and it is in 3/4 time which I think is a first for me.  There is a Who like chord crash at 1:38 (kind of not planned).  I sense a bit of a Zep kind of tempo at times and maybe those bass sounds/work are definetely almost liike a lead guitar (which is another reason I wanted to leave it alone from more guitar).  Overall to me though this has a Bad Company vibe.  I love Bad Company.  If I were stranded and could only have 10 bands music this band would for sure be one.  In HS I got the Straight Shooter album after hearing "Feel Like Making Love" on the radio and my infatuation with the group grew from there over many years (I must have played that album 300 times).
This builds for about a 2 minute intro into about 1:30 of lyrics and vocals...
From the land across the ocean you brought your magic potion, you mesmerized us.
When they raised the curtain, one thing was certain, you would rock our world.
You struck those bold chords and smashed your guitars, your star was high as the sky
when you started strummin, we started hummin we were blown to the sky
blown, blown to the sky
we never knew why
You struck those chords and burnt your guitars, your star was high as the sky
when you started strummin, we started hummin we were blown to the sky
blown, blown to the sky
we never knew why

I would add that I feel as if I'm in a race against time... so I would prefer to only post once a week but I have to follow my energy..... I did a remix in the monitors because headphone mixing was too guitar dominant.  hope you're "Blown to the sky"

Life is not about the number of Breathes you take, it is the amount of times your breathe is taken away

A great guitar sound Stephen....I do hear shades of Bad Company's Mick Ralphs' guitar with just the right amount of crunch. Nicely done!

Sounds like a classic rock song from the late 60's early 70's that somehow I'd never heard before. Great piece of work !

Fantastic job on this one...definately hear a bit of the Who in there for sure...great power pop ....Neil Young playing along to the Who while channelling Bad Finger....with Bad Compny playing in the background.....

Sounds good Stephen.  Good sounds going on, can't beat that classic sound. Nicely done.

Really like the sound, feel, and chords of this. The guitar tone has just the right amount of dirt and crunch. I can definitely hear a bit of The Who in proceedings - the slightly quieter vocal section reminds me of 'It's a Boy' from Tommy. It's really good stuff. The sound of a guitar done right is a joyous thing.

Excellent, Stephen! Certainly got that vintage Bad Company vibe. Those guitars sound stellar.

Yeah... god band Bad Company. It does have that big raw 70's rock thing going on, which is really where it's at for me. Those guitars sound massive - i love that raw sound, guessing without many effects? - and a very cool build up. This would be massive played live. Great stuff.
