Started dicking around on the piano again  ;D :o

The main piano part had to be done in one continuous take, which was a bit of a challenge. Played on an electric Yamaha piano with a guitar cable straight into the MBR.

Just a bit of Thumbjam cello and vocals added, so nowhere to hide  ::)

Like a lovesong to the city I'm in but not in. I miss the heart of her.

London oh
it's time to leave
but you give me those eyes
the sorrowful kind
cause you know I am weak

London oh
your old stone heart
might turn black with the rain
that's falling again
on the beggars and thieves

we've had some good times baby
even though you're old and sad
with dirt in your pores
you've had so many lovers
now they sleep beneath the streets
and restaurant floors

London oh
I miss your style
hundreds of years
of fashions you wear
without irony

we've had some good times baby
even though you're old and sad
with dirt in your pores
you've had so many lovers
now they sleep beneath the streets
and restaurant floors

London oh
you let me down
but I always forgive
every dig in the ribs
or knock-back you give

London oh...

Very fine song and the piano playing is pretty damn good as well.  Brilliantly sentimental but certainly not too mawkish (is that a word? Is it the right word?).  Not too sentimental is what I'm trying to say.  You can certainly hit the high notes.

Must be something in the air because i just wrote a tribute song to the UK rock invasion of the 60's and 70s... I am guessing many in NYC or from NYC are kind of feeling the same way about there as well...I empathize with you because it seems all our bastions of normalcy are being shaken.... I would suggest that you post a photo with it and festival submit?

Which hat did you pull this cracking song from. I'm still in awe of your skill, lyrical insight and your prolific work rate, even after 13 years.

Fab song, wistul and introspective and the piano is the right choice, as is cello.

Brilliant

Great key work and vocal on this one put me right into a smoky piano bar Could not find the tip jar or I would have left you something
Fine playing

Life is not about the number of Breathes you take, it is the amount of times your breathe is taken away

Classy. Gave me goosbumps. Seriously.
Billy Joel would be wishing he wrote this. I'm not exaggerating.
You're a talent Tim.. you know that.

I found this quite moving - you don't need anywhere to hide you sound amazing!

A treasure of a song and performance.

What a beautiful sad song, Tim. I love your piano playing, and the selective vocal doubling and TJ cello add considerably to the wistful atmosphere. I was reminded a bit of the late great Harry Nilsson, who had a similar ability to deliver a heartfelt moving song on piano with a great turn of phrase.

Well done.
