lol this is a really pants version. not totally satisfied with this version. but it's nice to keep it raw in neil young style! no gimmicks.. i used the onboad br mic. no compression, limiters , reverb or effects. mixed it in flat & at the lowest mp3 conversion. i'd would love to have anther go at this one in the future.. and certainly the rocked out version.. taken from my particular fav album 'freedom' from neil8) here is the acoustic addition. warts n all ;D

sorry pinedog.. did not mean to copy you. i just figured there is enough of neil to go round:)

p.s i re- uploaded anther version that i feel a little more satisfied below in the post. scroll down to hear. it's basically the same but a little more tighter....
thanks guys for all your comments n support - made me want to strive on n enjoy the neil fest even more:)

Great job Bus.  There is no fear doing more than one version of the same song, this is a festival, just grab your favorite song, get it down as quickly as possible, sing your heart out, play that guitar hard, that is the NY way.  One take, all the emotion raw.  Good one. I like how you have taken the whole Neil Young attitude and used no effects whatsoever, just raw music, not even any reverb for frig sake!

I love the raw and un-messed with sound as well!! Very well done!! Trying to use less effects myself - started cutting the reverb back 2db!! :D

I think the vox style is pretty cool, too.

Neil does actually use one effect, though - GAIN!! Had to say it... :D

thank you geir  & thanks guys ur very complimentary!:) awesome to use the onboard mic, i am sure it can give a little example for many others - that the micro br can pack quite a punch. there is magic in that little mic. really must give this anther shot as i build my  micro br confidence up. i'll cruise around and take inspiration from the trusty community:)

Nice job. The stripped-down approach definitely works with this. And I always admire raw, honest music. Really good cover!

Coffeehouse version...the way it probably started out when Neil wrote it. This is what it will all come back to when all the toys are dead and gone. Guts and emotion here...good work Bus!
I love the Freedom album too...grows on ya. Gonna dig out a another from there and post it later today..

thanks guys for all your input:) coffeehouse version twas cool:) that's a good way to describe it. i guess if we were all on a desert island and did not have all our musical luxuries. just a uke or g-tar. i guess we would all be more raw n back to basics. i sure would miss the evolution of music tho. well enough of that lol.

like some crazy punk i often like to be.. i recorded this version again. i am more satisfied with this version. not completely ;).. i still kept the mix the same. mixed in flate, no compression, limiters reverb or br effects. using the br onboard mic and a more warmed up attitude.. i headed for my kitchen.. has good acoustics there. put my br in a wicker shelf .. and like some crazy trojan in the pursuit to challenge the onboard br mic n keep it raw - went at it again. the pots and pans were rattling lol. my head was bobbing around like a pigeon trying not to go over with recording levels. it twas a really fun experiment:) i'm very impressed with the onboard mic. it would be easy to use my condenser mics. n i sure will again in the future. i came to realise. just how hard it is to sing neil young's songs with no gimmicks. my overall feeling is i am happy i captured the live sound on the br. n with voice training n harnessed right i believe it will be certainly possible to capture great live recordings at very high punk rock voice levels. if can be mastered then the more easier songs that don't have so much threshold - will be far more easier to converse in confidence without having to pack additional mics and use effects... don't get me wrong i swear and live by effects.. but i love a good challenge too.
