Haven't written a new one in a couple months.....til now.  (shout out to Mark D. Hastings for providing keyboard tracks).  Hope you enjoy it.

Flying to Somewhere - Currier Square,  words & music: Vance Grazio    c2021

The sweetest chord, I ever heard
Was always slightly out of tune
A candle lit in a darkened heart
Extinguishes too soon

A shaking leaf, on a barren tree
Breaks free upon the autumn winds
Across the sky, far beyond your eye
Flying, to somewhere, like you

The part of you that pours out of me
Blessings from a curse
There's nothing more to the words I sing
When the world slams in reverse

Graceless ways, in a lover's cage
No refuge in a storm
Change that brings, desperate wings
Flying,  to somewhere, like you

Shooting stars, only go so far
Burning out then free
One and done, like everyone
Who's flying, to somewhere, like you

"Play because you love it. Don't worry about if it will ever make any money, just understand that playing is an end in itself, and you play music, it will make your life better. And, don't worry about being a star, don't worry about making money, worry about nothing, just sit down with your guitar and let it speak to you and that will make your life better. It will bring beauty into your life. It's a great thing to do."     ---- David Crosby

I'm a sucker for great ahh harmonies, like the ones before the last verse - they soar through the cosmos, awesome!!

Very nicely done! The droning vibe of the acoustic guitar's alternating chords in the verses creates a very powerful sound. Excellent vocals and the piano is cool add to the song. This reminds me a bit of Seals and Crofts' style. I enjoyed this very much!

> One and done, like everyone

Great song, and all the lyrics are great, but this one line sticks out as particularly awesome.

I think great lyrics have room for interpretation and yours definitely do.  I'm thinking about mortality.

One and done.

Bruce Springsteens' latest has a song "one minute you're here, next minute you're gone", which had me thinking similar thoughts.

Carpe diem.

I liked this right from the start! Everything sounds so good on this and is in balance. The most important thing on this is the atmosphere, it's beautiful and ethereal. Enjoyable listening!!

The lyrics and their existential overtones are the heart of the song for me.

"Shooting stars, only go so far
Burning out then free"...   Very cool line !!

You create a mood here that's thought provoking, kinda dark, but gentle. Intriguing tune...
