The vox go really well with this and turn it into a real catchy piece, loved it. Great vocal performance as always from Jim, glad you got around to doing this, my feet were tapping away and clearly wanted the rest of me to be leaping around to this one.

Just one slight niggle for me - the vox sounded a bit dry and sat a bit proud from the backer in the mix. A gentle touch of reverb and compression would have helped, or perhaps a bit more if they are already on there. Or maybe I just miss "For Nylon"...... ;)

I tend to agree with you Nigel...but I generally don't comment much on mixing because what people like in music tends to be so different...  but yes...I like the music a bit louder to the vocals....

Thanks James! Excellent job as always. I'm so thankful to you of each collab we have done since 2010.

Nigel, I used "metalcat" preset both on guitar and bass on my BR80.

The Boss presets in the BR-800 are pretty damn good and can be tweaked to sound fab. I assume those in the BR-80 are similar and theyu certainly sounded great on this song. The BR series are very cool pieces of kit, and you used it really well here.

Still struggling with mics, was out of my comfort zone without fornylon tweaked settings I have on microbr. I am contemplating plugging the microbr into the sapphire lol

All that the ForNylon patch does is provide a 2 dB boost at 3.15 kHz and a bit of delay. It should be easy to reproduce those same settings in nearly any DAW or multitrack recorder.

Here are the complete patch settings:

Patch: MC05:ForNylon

Algorithm: VOCAL MULTI

Compressor: Off

Enhancer: Off

4band Equalizer:On
  LowGain: 0 dB
  LowMidGain: 0 dB
  LowMidFreq: 160 Hz
  LowMidQ: 2
  HiMidGain: +2 dB
  HiMidFreq: 3.15 kHz
  HiMidQ: 2
  HiGain: 0 dB
  Level: 0 dB

Noise Suppressor: Off

Delay: Single
  DelayFeedback: 15
  DelayLevel: 15
  Delay Time: 361 ms

Notice that everything's turned off except the equalizer and the delay. And the equalizer's gains for Low, LowMid, and Hi are all set to 0dB, so they're effectively off too. The only thing the equalizer is doing is boosting the signal by 2 dB at 3.15 kHz.

To recreate the ForNylon patch in the BR-800, choose preset patch 01:ROCK in the VOCAL bank and edit its settings. Turn off the PCR, DYN, SFX, NS, and DB/HR effects. That just leaves the EQ and DLY. Edit the EQ settings and set LOW GAIN, LOW-MID G, HIGH GAIN, and LEVEL to 0dB. Set HI-MID F to 3.15 kHz, HI-MID Q to 2, and HI-MID G to +2 dB. Press the EXIT button to return to the previous screen and select the DLY effect. Set the TYPE to STANDARD. Then set DLY TIME to 361 ms, FEEDBACK to 15, HIGH CUT to FLAT, E.LEVEL to 15, and D.LEVEL to 100. Actually, you might have to experiment with the D.LEVEL. The Micro BR doesn't have that setting, so I'm guessing that it should be set to 100 for the full direct level but you could try lower settings and see what sounds best. Press the EXIT button to return to the Effects screen and select NAME / WRITE to save the patch to the USER bank (patch "U01", for example) and name it "ForNylon". The user bank patches are available from any song. You could also save it to the SONG bank (patch "S01", for example) but then it would only be available in that song and you wouldn't be able to access it from any other songs.

It won't be when you actually get into the BR-800 and try it. All of the uppercase words in my post are things you'll see in the BR-800's display. Just set them to the values I've shown and save the patch. That's all there is to it.
