Kari sent me this backer a few weeks back, sorry for the delay.

It is what it is.

I need to find a new me
A different way of being
I'm lost with no control
Over my situation
I don't know who I am
Or what I'm meant to do
Clutching at straws
Holding on for dear life
The only thing I need
The only thing I want
Do I need to be so obvious

I need to change my ways
Before I crash and burn
I need to stand up tall
Will I never ever learn
I'm the captain of my ship
Cutting through the ice
Lost in a sea of loneliness
Can't see through the tears
The only thing I need
The only thing I want
Do I need to be so obvious

Do I need to be so obvious
Do I need to be so obvious
The only thing I need
The only thing I want

Is there some space for hope
Or should I just give up
Go down another road
And find a different way
But there's so much to lose
So much history
I can't imagine
My dreams are all but nought
The only thing I need
The only thing I want
Do I need to be so obvious

Do I need to be so obvious
Do I Need To Be So Obvious

Nice rocky backer from Kari, I like the drop outs, a great bit of punctuatoin.

Great vox and the lyrics are great but a bit obscure. Not sure what you're trying to say James.

I am pretty sure i could guess what this is about given 3 to 5 tries.... first off... i like the idea...because we all go through thoughts like this...I think anyway... and the vocals are good... love the "Rush" sounding guitars too.... drives along nicely...

Brilliant backer, great driving punky riffs and a superb bass sound, really liked that gnarly, driving sound. The vox go really well with this and turn it into a real catchy piece, loved it. Great vocal performance as always from Jim, glad you got around to doing this, my feet were tapping away and clearly wanted the rest of me to be leaping around to this one.

Just one slight niggle for me - the vox sounded a bit dry and sat a bit proud from the backer in the mix. A gentle touch of reverb and compression would have helped, or perhaps a bit more if they are already on there. Or maybe I just miss "For Nylon"...... ;)

Lol. When you sent this to me by email I listened late last night and thought - 'fuck me, you suddenly got amazing on guitar!'. Didn't know it was Kari!!!! Makes sense now, lol.

It's absolutely superb, gents. Soaring and full of energy. Digging the stop-start bits too. It's terribly catchy and I like the obscurity of the lyric.

Do i need to be so ... superb lyrics and that line remember me the smiths. But Ferry is right, in my opinion vocals should better drown in the backtrack here. Bravo both!

Nice work from you both on this collaboration. Punchy, punky and catchy. Well done!
