Nice piece of work. Clearly these feelings came from the the heart - not always so easy to share so thanks for doing so. JMc

I liked it straight away. The drums seem unconventional but really work. They genuinely sound live and completely distinct from a soulless drum machine. It's a damn fine song - the melodies are superb, and you've done a great job with the vocal. Excellent.

Quote from: Farrell Jackson on January 15, 2021, 07:55:29 AMA cool song Stephan.....good words and melody! I really like the tone and amount of over drive you have on the rhythm guitar. I read Nigel's suggestion about spreading out the rhythm guitar in the stereo field. I use this technique a lot and it does bring more depth to the guitar track while leaving space for the vocal. Great work on this song!

yes, I love what you do on guitars... funny thing is I had a good number of the tracks already recorded and my BR1600 started acting up.... Hard drive full, but it wasn't so I had to essentially format the disk... but I couldn't get the tracks off by digital transfer so I had no choice but to go analog out to another recorder track by track... and then of course I went back...so I did lose some quality there.... I often do the double take and spread it left and right with vocals but never tried it with guitar....sounds good when I hear it...

Quote from: Ferryman on January 15, 2021, 07:19:42 AMGreat stuff Steve. The drums are the standout for me on this, great work, they drive the song and add a lot of interest to it. The bass is really good as well, it complements the drums superbly and builds a great platform for the vocals. Your vocals seem to be getting better all the time, and you recorded them really well.

This is a great song. My only suggestion would be to add a bit more guitar by making the rhythm work wider in the stereo field, because I felt that nice guitar work was getting a bit lost. If you could spread the rhythm guitar by doubling it or using a stereo effect, it would add a bit more without getting in the way of the vocals. But it's only a minor thing that a nitpicker like me would pick up on.... ;)

****thank you so much Nigel because you are always full of good ideas... it's so funny when I focus on some things some others get obscured.... I suppose it's why us humans need each other... because when you are in the forest it might be hard to see the forest....lol... and to be very honest I have not been in the best of places in my mind.... its a battle...

I did a remix....I did two more guitar tracks...essentially the same playing but with slightly different effects than each other... panned them all the way left and right... and I kep the other tracs as well... I don't know if it's better but it is different... and I did a new drum track too...  the new one is at the top of the post...this one is the original

Doing one from the heart is always worthwhile, although it can be a little intimidating to share with others. Great job on this - your vocals here have a bit of a Neil Young vibe, and the guitars, bass, and drums are all very well done.

I'm back to listen to this one again. I think it's really good.  It's late evening in my music studio, the room lights are off, and I have a healthy amount of whiskey and and my monitors down low. Enjoying your song.  Blessings.

You should be really proud Stephen, you are sharing from the heart and not many people can do that.

I feel you are growing in confidence with your vocals and lyrics. This song is special, hold it to your heart and treasure it.

Will all I failed to do or say?  Come to haunt my current stay? - stunning!

I am sorry you aren't in a great place right now - blessings to you too.

I like this song a lot. It s a prayer, a confession, a self conforting talk. Above all is very direct and honest, and the raw neil young rock-ish ballad style and the spoken words make it more intense. Beautiful, beautiful ...

Definitely cool stuff love,in the vocal first off, just what  Ferryman said big stereo  spread on the guitars would  make  this  so much  bigger, apart from  that this is really  cool tune, loved the listen.
