 :)Ah!ah!ah!
Ah! ah! ah! ah! ..I never publish on original song, unfortunately I am unable to compose either music or lyrics.

...so here's your chance to make a little joke...
this instrumental piece is indeed an "original song".

on a suite of "Andalouse" (Am G F E) I did a little solo for my friend Jean Paul (for one of his covers )

...and there, with reaper I discovered something that I didn't know how to do but that is very easy with Reaper (and probably all DAWs) is to invert a musical phrase (vocal or instrumental) ... something that the Beatles liked to do well, and a good number of groups (psychedelic) in the 60-70s.

in english it's called "backmasking" here very interesting article in wikipedia about backmasking https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Backmasking

my backmasking part is 0'55".   another joke: after the backmasking part, and since it was a very long solo, I made a quote from Rodrigo's Concerto de Ajanjuez

Cool! Has a Santana feel - until the backmasking! Then seems like you blend it back again somewhere in there seamlessly. Tricky to do I bet. Makes for a great effect!

Thanks Hardlock...No!...not difficult at all if you have a Daw (Reaper, Cubase or other)

in my improv the chord suite is the Andalusian suite Am/ G/ F/ E which repeats itself ad libitum
so I cut a complete Am/G/F/E sequence that's the framed selection on the picture, then "reverse active take" and the section is reversed.

Cool! Thanks - I have reverse effect in Audacity so will have a try at it!

Doesn't reversing that progression end up with the chords all unmatched? Logically, I'd think you'd want to reverse each chord individually? Either way, sounds trippy!

Good question and good listening! actually maybe we should do that<..here it works pretty much because it's the pentatonic scale that is used on Am, so it works pretty much ..but well it was just an experiment to see how it worked I had to give the suction pumping effect created by the inverted long note which is a bit like a volume pedal ;D

I've tried the backwards guitar effect in Audacity before but didn't have as much success with it as you have here JP. It does sound cool!

I learned to love backward guitar from Hendrix. Listening to your reversed solo brings back some fond memories of my teenager years discovering him for the first time. Thank you for that.

First you have to make it sound good going forward to make the reverse sound good  lol defiantly got the Santana vibe  and it sounds good

Life is not about the number of Breathes you take, it is the amount of times your breathe is taken away

c'est vrai Jean Paul que ça sonne plus Santana que Pink Floyd :D :D :D :D

I'm a sucker for anything backwards. I just love that sound as I grew up in the pyschedelic era and love that kind of music. So this was a really enjoyable listen, a nice groove with some good soloing and wonderful effects. Definitely sounds a bit like Carlos Santana and Dave Gilmour taking an acid trip together, which is probably a good thing!  :D
