What to do with old ZOOM stomp boxes?

Started by Ted, June 01, 2009, 11:34:01 AM

Ted

I have a couple of old ZOOM stomp boxes.  I think a guitarist might be able to love them, but I'm not sure I need them since (a) I have a Micro BR plus a Vox practice amp with onboard effects, and (b) I have a ZOOM B2 (for bass) on the way, which has what the MBR and I are really lacking.

Both of these pedals have effects lacking on the MBR and my amp, but they're not effects I really use--such as octave/interval effects.  (A guitarist might be able to approximate a bass with either of these boxes.)

Should they stay or should they go?

I'm leaning towards "go."

ZOOM 9000: Technically not a "stomp box" because I don't have the foot pedal attachment.  It came out in 1991, and was endorsed by Dweezil Zappa.

ZOOM 505 Guitar (on left): Another cool pedal from 1996.

I could probably get a few bucks for each of them at my local used bookstore or on eBay.

Go. The ZOOM B2 for bass is lovely and the G2 for gtr is great also, I have them both. I had an earlier generation ZOOM pedal and it doesn't come close to these babies.

Cheers,

The 9000 could be nice, I have a 9030 that I still use on occasions (last used on my "Walking in the city" posted here a cpouple of weeks ago)

Personal advertising is not allowed here. However, since this seems to be more of a request for opinions about the merits of keeping versus getting rid, I'll leave your wrists alone.  :)

But, please, if you decide to definitely sell them, advertise on eBay or craigslist or one of those type of web sites - not here. And if anyone's interested in buying Ted's pedals, please discuss it in personal messages or emails, rather than in these public boards. Lets restrict the public discussion here to the merits of keeping versus selling.

Thanks.

Or I'd be happy to send either of them to anyone on this forum for little more than the cost of shipping. Send me a PM if you're interested.

Note: I do not have a power supply for either of these.

I wias kinda under the impression he was doing a good deed and donating them to a worthy cause??? Which I think is just awesome, good for you mang!

BUT in the meantime...I say hook them up together and select "delay" on both of them, set one to 120 and the other to 240 or even 360ms...its also better if youve got stereo out on one of them...but 2 delays is a really awesome effect, think "the Edge" or Andy Summers.

Oops! I think you're right. I may have read something into it that wasn't there. Sorry for any misunderstanding Ted. In any case, I didn't mean to imply that there was anything wrong with the original post, and you didn't need to change it. I was merely trying to ensure that this thread doesn't develop into an online auction. But I guess there's not much danger of that if you're giving them away.

Worthy cause!  Hah!  Your original interpretation was correct.  I extend my wrist to you for 64slaps.

Awe...youre trying to sell them???
And here I thought you were building your karma up.

Did you try the 2 delays???

Ted

Woohoo!  My friendly neighborhood used bookstore gave me $30 in store credit for the two of them.

Nope.  But I have the delay on my amp and an old Ibanez AD9 Analog delay stomp box (vintage; not no damn reissue), as well as the delay on my Micro BR.  So I've got everything I need to go delay crazy if I want.
