This one started out inspired by a preset in the IzoTope BreakTweaker "edm drum" plugin, it uses BreakTweaker, u-he Repro5 (a very convincing 80s analog synth plugin), the lead sound is from Voltage Modular, based on a preset called Jim Rockford, with liberal reverb (as always).   And of course you can't do 1980s without a Yamaha DX7 patch, this time I picked a DX7 bell patch.  There are also some odd samples that sound a bit pitchy like they were recorded on tape that stretched, which I think sounds cool.

I'm working on my ability to "BUILD" a track, that is, to start slowly, and add things, which build on each other, or react with each other, and then kind of grow to a moment of poignancy, and then, we hope, some kind of resolution.  I am trying to think of synth parts as pieces of an orchestra.

My hope for this mix is that it comes over on your headphones or speakers as sad and reserved, always holding something back, rather than just maxing out your speakers, or sounding brash. I added some crackle, hiss, pop, and grunge, and a lot of tape saturation via the u-he Satin plugin, and the Steinberg Grungelizer.

I think this one could get some lyrics some day.  The music feels sad to me, and lonely and kind of desparate, thus the title (Runaway).

A really nice piece with a fair amount of stuff going on. Well put together and yes, has a little sad and moody feeling to it but it isn't depressing. Perfect for a movie soundtrack type of scenario. Well done!

Brilliant one Warren. You got a lot of emotion going on... you layered everything and built the tune really expertly. Loved it.

Very cool indeed. I really like this kind of music, and I think you did a great job here. The layers build really nicely and the sounds work very well together. You chose well, and I like some of the glitchiness in there. I love the breakdown at around 2:35 and the section after that. You could have actually brought everything back in after this, I was almost expecting a post-rock style "big ending".

I think this worked really well, and I think you really got the kind of feeling you were aiming for. And the mention of the DX7 brought back some horrible memories of trying to get to grips with programming a DX21 back in the 80s!

Thoughtful and interesting. Nice combination of synth fizz, ambience and sequencing. The glitching is great. Parts of the opening reminded me of 'Wow' by Kate Bush.
