Quote from: Pinedog on June 01, 2009, 05:45:28 AMHey! What's wrong with the 60's sound?!

There's nothing wrong with it. Except that I can't seem to get away from the enormous influence of the Beatles, Donovan, Small Faces, Kinks, Beach Boys etc etc on my own stuff! So everything I do seems to naturally end up sounding quite 'sixties', and mostly deliberately, lol

Super Summer Song right here Greeny & Flash!!

Catchy, driving, melodic, cool drums too I might add - luv the way the layers of guitars work together with that cool bassline!!

Of course your singing is always great - I swear your really one of the beatles coming on here to give us some lessons in pop music writing and composition!!

Thank you - great job!!!

This is pretty kick ass! Very well done ;)

All those sixties influences are there but this is still uniquely Greeny. Your vocal harmonies are very clever, they're not the obvious ones and they add a lot to "your" sound. Great stuff, very cattchy and you and Flash just click now - his bass complements this beautifully.

Cheers,

Missed this one been busy last couple of weeks great songwriting as ever but what maks this one stand out is the great guitar work and the excellent bass line from FH. One of your best to date, there must be some way of getting your music to a larger audience because I sure there would be interest in great songwiting such as yours

                                                Well done again

I've been busy too (work though, sadly), so missed it as well.

Mighty fine Greeny and Harry - I agree with everything said already.

I'm on the "sounds contemporary with roots in the 60s" side of the fence.

See, this is why Greeny is one of the stars -- nay, SUPERSTARS -- of this forum.  Just listened to this one for the 4th time in a row, and opened a new window so I could listen while I reply.  What can I say about this one?  Simply excellent.  It's so complete and lush and full.  LOVE the tone on those jangly guitars.  They are 60s-sounding for sure, but still beefed up a bit, not to tinny and thin like some of my attempts at a 60s sound usually are.

Flash's bassline is SWEET.  Has a sort of funk-ish feel at times, but extremely melodic and McCartney-like at the same time.  Kind of reminds me of how Macca was all over the place (in a good way) on songs like "Paperback Writer," etc.

Vocals are great, especially the harmonies (60s sound again).  Production is absolutely perfect, nothing need change.  Love that ending too.

I can't say it any better than Flash can: FUCKING ACE! ;D

PS: I have not had much time to dedicate to the forum this week (sorry everyone), but I have logged on once in a while and heard some good stuff.  This is the best tune I've heard this week.  Glad I caught it!

THANKS!!!!! I have some favourite patches that are giving me the rhythm sound / tones I want without any effects editing. 'Ambcurnch' is a great all-round jangle-machine, and 'MSDry' is a nicer, slightly heavier tone if you back off the guitar's volume a bit. Both have a nice 'thick sound' when you use them on a rhythm pick-up setting. I'm very fond of using the SQRtr tremelo effect to add an extra sixties 'shimmer' to things too.
