JasonBR864

I bought my 864 off the internet used and it didnt come with directions so I took the liberty of finding a turbo start guide and VIOLA!, I can record but cant do drums if my life depended on it. I can select a pattern and set it up in a song but when i try to do a pattern a measure at a time and record it i get nothing. I normally use a Boss footswitch for jamming to stop and start the drums for songs but arranging a pattern seems to take rocket science or physics..lol Ive tried to search for info here about the 864 but it does not seem that ther are many users. Please help

Thanks,
Jason

I am some what new to the whole pc/recording thing so my fault for not reading fully before posting..lol

I Give credit to 64 for his step by step directions here:

 http://www.geocities.com/sixtyfourguitars/BossBr/Tutorials/Arrangement_Example.html

I wanna get the 864 section going in this forum so ill be adding alot what I learn from reading from 64. I dont want to take credit I just want to keep the BR864 section alive and let posters and readers know my mistakes and triumphs. I dont have alot of dough to sling at another recorder so this is it until my pc cant support it anymore.

Thanks for the great info !

Hi Jason. I'm glad you found my drum tutorial. I hope it helped. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

I've had my BR-864 since Dec 1, 2003 and it's still the only BR I've ever used. It has a few quirks (like the shared track faders) but it serves my needs quite well. And it has a couple of effects (Guitar Synth and Harmonist) that aren't available in any of the other BRs, not even the top-of-the-line BR-1600.

You'll find that the BR-864 is nearly identical to the BR-600 and BR-900CD except for obvious things like the CD burner and drum pads. So be sure to read all you can about those BRs too.

Jase - It's just an enjoyable learning curve.  ;) I had the 864 and, as I pointed out to 64Gs, the only reason I upgraded to the 900cd was those faders eventually wore me down, but boy, did I have some fun with the machine. In fact in a way, it is the best machine to start off on, BECAUSE of the limited faders, it seems simpler in comparison with the bigger boys. But ALL the tools are there, as it says on one of the BR-Tutorial Vids, The Beatles (whether you like them or not), would have died for this level of technology. So keep going at it, and keep posting on this thread, I'll reply if no one else does! (Joke, guys!)
