I was finishing a cover of SLOOP JOHN B and the day before, my friend Glenn published his own cover version, funny no? of course we didn't consult each other.

2 versions in 2 days, while the previous edition was ...2011!!

The version of Tim (Greeny) 2011 is also great, very different from the Beach Boys version ( see the story on wikipedia)

That said, the 1966 record Pet sounds had a great influence on the music. Pop/Rock

In Rolling Stone's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time (published in 2003), he is ranked 2nd ahead of Revolver and behind Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band on two Beatles albums that Pet Sounds has influenced.

_______________________________UP DATE, with video
the video is minimalist and just a pretext to redo the last verse with a canon of voices (I love musical canons) so there are ...12 voice tracks
...and as a reminder that this song is originally a carabean song (from the Bahamas) and I discovered this by Greeny and his very nice version on SC
I'm doing a search on the internet and I found a trace of the version that inspired Greeny, by Blind Blake Higgs.
as well as a version of the theme by the Haitian saxophonist Anthony Moise, I'll put the references in a future post.

You wait ages for a Sloop John B cover, then two come along together!  ;D Nice work JP, lovely jangly guitar work and great work on the vocals. A different feel to Glenn's cover, nice to see two different interpretations.

Greeny

Is that a 12-string jangle I hear?! Sounds like The Byrds covering The Beach Boys :-)

Very nice job on all the layers and harmonies. Nice touch with the xylophone part too. Great stuff.
