This cover is dedicated to Warren (Warpcanada) by whom I discovered this singer from Quebec, which I did not know.
...and dedicated to Willie also of course  ;)
QuoteAnyways, one of my favorite French Canadian singers is Jean Leloup (he was born Jean Leclerc, uses "John the Wolf" as his stage name), I will post one of his songs which I absolutely adore.

I think I will do a cover of this song, I adore it.

I beat you to this cover Warren, but I hope you'll do a nice acoustic version.

I wanted to make a "rock" version to try a new drum plug ins that looks pretty good to me. (MT POWER DRUMS FREE)
...and I had fun putting some sound effects (dogs, train whistle, fire noise)

I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

Oh, scuse me the lyrics and translation

translation
Dogs bark the passing train
It's night not far from midnight.
The stars are beautiful the sky is black of this black blue that we see
When we are sad or happy
Dogs bark
And old Willie writes:
"To you, my bottle of whiskey, I leave my sadness and trouble...
To you, my bottle of whiskey, I leave my fuckin' worries; I missed my life.
It seems it was only a matter of seconds.
It is only a thread that holds our place in this world...
In the course of a sentence, I lost my way.
So long as I can remember, my memory is broken.
My loves were beautiful, but everything reminds me of them.
Still the labyrinth the destiny that is shaping me
Dogs bark the passing train
It's night not far from midnight.
The stars are beautiful the sky is black of this black blue that we see
When we are sad or happy
Don't be too sad for the end of my track
All my bones hurt me, they attack me like jackals in unequal combat.
A people of sleeping ghost demons
Would he hide at the bottom of all my bottles?
I'm so old and where are my little old ladies?
For my part, I can't wait to go on a trip...
To leave this family of terrors which swarm
Dogs bark the passing train
It's night not far from midnight.
The stars are beautiful the sky is black of this black blue that we see
When we are sad or happy
In the distance the flames, in the distance the flames, in the distance the flames, in the distance the flames
In the distance the...
And to the wind that will carry the smoke from my wooden shed
I bequeath my philosophy and also all my genius ideas.
And finally to you, the passer-by who will pass by, I bequeath you my Ford Nova
I warn you right away: there is no such thing as love.
In the distance the flames, in the distance the flames

Thank you Trevor
...I had a lot of fun making this song with 5 guitar tracks, a bass, some sound effects and MT Power Drums kit (free plug ins that I'm discovering and that goes very well for POP/Rock/Blues music which contains tons of variations/breaks, that I haven't used yet)

otherwise all the voices were recorded with this incredible pair of Behringer C2 microphones,...for the ridiculous price (40 euros per pair ???).

for those who are interested in the chords of this song

Loving this one JP. The double vocal sounds fantastic, the guitars (and the effects) work really well, a really great sound you created here. The drum plugin sounds great and really helps the feel of the track and the sound effects add a nice touch. Well done indeed!

That is brilliant.

It's such a great song.  This guy Willie is just a complete character in my head. At first I imagined it was Willie Nelson. But this Willie, I think is a Habitant, an old man, living in the north country, in rural Quebec, with his Ford Nova that barely runs.

I believe that Love does exist, but I also some days, feel like it doesn't, and Willie is having one of those days, you know?

In this song he says "L'amour n'existe pas", and in another song on the same album, the lyric says "Le monde n'existe pas", and I think both are great lines.     The thing is both do exist, except that we feel that they don't.  And in some way, when we leave, both do cease to exist in some way. We certainly can't hold onto whatever it is that we have right now.    Both lines express a sad realization of loss and pain.

It feels like a real story, of a real person.
