I have been fiddling with this one for a day or two going nowhere. However on a better note there is a new Jemima's kite song in the pipeline that has bouyed up my confidence. Not with this song tho, this one is an effing dirge. I'm done with it. I want to be in a band bugger this singer songwriter malarkey.

It is what it is.
Oh but for happenstance
Oh but for destiny
Oh...........
But for me
I saw it all come down
I saw the tragedy
Oh.....
But for me
There is no reason
No rhyme
No certainty
Only chance holds sway
Oh.........
But for me
Oh.........
But for me
It is my choice
To step aside
Or intervene
Oh.........
But for me
To remain silent
Or say it loud
Swallowed up
A voice lost in the crowd
Drowned out by the noise
Of indifference
If you stand up
Will it change anything

Oh.....
But for me

Oh .......
But for me

Will I stand frozen on the spot
Or stand up for what is right
Fight or flight
I hope I have the strength
I hope I have the will
I hope I have the wit
I hope I have some friends
To stand with me
Not hide away
Not die away
Oh but for me
Oh but for you
Oh but for everyone
Oh but for everyone
Oh but
But For Me

your fiddling has paid off imo....this is a real gem.... I am listening on a small set of computer speakers....like maybe 3 inch or smaller.... and this sounds really good... and I can relate very much to the lyrics...and your music and singing are something to strive for....

James, don't sell this one short - maybe consider it a new-age blues? Dig the smooth vibe you have going.

Great song Jim ... I always feel the need to read the words as I listen to your songs.

The sounds and the thoughts ... wonderful.

I enjoyed it a lot Jim. It's well put together, a good combo of instruments and sounds, nicely recorded and lovely vocals as always. Okay, it sounds like an ORH song and it's got your style all over it, but there's nothing wrong with that in my book. Maybe you are too close to it and just need to take a bit of a break and work on something different (like that JK song).

Just come back to it in a while and you will see there's real value in this.

I know exactly where you are on this. I've been going down that rabbit-hole myself recently - bored of my own voice and retreading what sounds like the same old paths. But you're wrong. This is far from a dirge. It's melodic, it has a great lyric, and I like the build of the chiming guitar parts. It actually has an epic and profound feel about it.

And we can always take a Kite holiday together when we need a break :-)

Another great "ORH Lament".  Enjoyed it very much!

Chin up chest out Jim .... nothing wrong with this one ...as Ken a modern blues ....a good bit of durging  and who doesn't like a bit of durging now and again
