I had no idea I was going to do this... it started with a song in the truck playing, it was an old version of Rolling Stones "Satisfaction" live from the Ed Sullivan show... my son Markus said "you don't like the rolling stones"?  I had pressed the next button... so that started me down this path of "Actually I liked about 6 or 7 Stones songs... one was Gimme Shelter... I asked Markus if he ever heard he...nope...so I played it for him off my phone list... As it was playing I was thinking man, i would like to cover this....then I was like hmmm I could probably pull off an unexpected psyco cover.... I donned my leather jacket and immediately got to work...5 hours later here it is.... crazy fun... I was laughing so hard with the whistle thing and me trying to sing this... I had a blast...
2 Rhythm guitar tracks, harley benton ....played semi dirty and dirty with the Boss ME-25 guitar box... recorded totally and mixed totally by ear on the Zoom R24...vocals, 3 tracks stereo using on board mics.... bass, epiphone using semi dirty throught the Boss... Drums first take on the Alesis Nitro.... one lead track with wah ( on the Boss box)... one air soft machine gun just for effect... that had me laughing too...
btw.... when I did this I had absolutely no idea what this song was about...seriously... as many times as I have heard it... lyrics just blend into the music on most songs for me... I thought they were saying "whoa, Children, its just a shine away."  all these 40 some years....lol
I had thought about a b52 cover like maybe private idaho...so I put a touch of that in here,,

Very innovative and out there. Great idea to just let this take shape as it's worked out really well. A great listen and the wah guitar is great. I thought the machine gun was a snare roll!

Love this brother, well done with the Psychedelic turn on this classic.
Rock on!

Well done Stephen - great version ! Love how you've covered this.

Strangely enough I've been playing this song a couple of evenings ago - I sometimes look up the tab for songs I like but have never played just to practice something different.

I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

Yeah nice version. I like how you cut loose on this and threw lots of ideas in here. I think that captures the true spirit of the psychadelic thing. Yeah loving all those crazy backing vocals and that bonkers lead playing. Nice!!
