I think there is great chance to make many different versions. I´m afraid I can´t sing old English. ;D Maybe Hilary can? Very nice idea to make it sound old song. Fits great to the tune. I can try to make Finnish lyrics too. Maybe it sounds old language in your ears? :D

Do you want it to be so short or could you make it longer?

WarpCanada

Hey JP my real first name is Warren.    Your part sounds lovely.

The actual length of the song depends on how much lyrics we write.  What I have posted so far is not even as long as one verse of the song might be.

One verse of the song may be my chord progression repeated four times, and we might write four verses.   If each verse was 16 bars long, and we had four verses, the song could become as long as we want.

The sample chord progression is not determining the length of the song, and the rhythm and melody could be altered and elongated.

In fact, the audio I posted is only a "snippet" which you could place in your DAW and repeat like this:

[X][X][X][X]

Once we get some more parts built, I will rebuild my part with an arrangement to fit our lyrics.

Think of the above not as final tracks, but as concept parts, or as "phrase demos".

An arrangement would probably be

[intro]
[verse]
[verse]
[verse]
[bridge]
[verse]
[outro]

I haven't written the whole arrangement yet, consider what I posted to be "something that we iterate over to determine the melodic content of the verses".

Quote from: my idol is Jahia on November 24, 2020, 12:48:11 AMHello Warpcanada (what is your first name, its' more fun)
I put a few notes of Weissenborn guitar (it's an acoustic guitar, played "flat" with a Baretone, mine is an English Anderwood guitar).
it's almost improvised on the chords of your progression, just to know if the "color" would suit your idea.
If your chord progression is too short, you should add a part that could be either a change of key to the relative major for example for Am the relative major C, or a different chord progression on a neighboring key to have a kind of alternating chorus/couplet, or other things...it's up to you...see

JP  loved the first one...and the video song...mostly though I liked it with the instrument.... I am not a big fan of acapella (just not my thing) but I really like your singing with the instruments...

I heard some of your singing in finnish...and I though it was extraordinary.... for me singing and lyrics are almost part of the music and so I really don't hear words right away usually anyway....and often I cry, moved to deep emotion when it is all just music (like in a foreign language that I don't know)....its very healing to me

...It's a very interesting reflexion,  and by the way I'm going to open a new topic/debate

Lyrics versus music, in a song  ;)

OK...but I still find that the chord sequence Am, Dm, F, G, Am would be too repetitive and monotonous if you have a lot of verse...why don't you introduce a modulation for example in relative major of the key, or other (there are many possible modulations in harmony)
HERE is an excellent course on Modulations, unfortunately for English speakers it's in French, but you should be able to find an equivalent in English...

Mike I LOVE it.

IDOL-IS-JAHIA can you get together some slide to go on Mike's thing, and mix it on that?

We need Finnish lyrics, I think.  Or Russian.  Who is game?
