A friend of mine (Bobby) sent me a track of just his acoustic guitar and vocal done LITLR. He asked if I could work it into a full blown song. I owed him a favor so I agreed to do it. I ask him to redo the vocal track by itself and send it to me. It was recorded with a click at 120 bpm. So I spent a couple of sessions on it and this is the result.

Credits and recording info: Bobby did the lead vocal and I used his intro chords (which sound a lot like Skynard's Simple Man but after that I used different chords to deviate from that as best as I could). I did all the music and backing vocals. I used a Zoom drum machine for the drums, an Ernie Ball OLP humbucking guitar for the chorused rhythm strummed/picking into a Pocket POD direct, and the jammed  fills/solo is a G&L Tele with humbuckers into a SansAmp GT2 pedal direct, and a Fender Squire Jazz Bass into a T.C. Electronics preamp, and all recorded/mixed with my Fostex VF160. Mastered by LANDR at Hi Med Balanced. I think that's it. I didn't spend a lot of time on this but the hardest part was holding the constant "aaaaahs" backing vocals throughout the middle pause/pull back. I kept running out of air, lol. As they say "It is what it is".

You've turned this into a great song, Farrell. Excellent guitar work and your playing style reminds me a little of Carlos Santana on this track. Great job; well done.

Life is not about the number of Breathes you take, it is the amount of times your breathe is taken away

I really like the backing vocals... the lead guitar at the end reminds me of a bit of Steve Miller and Thin Lizzy.... neat sounds...  solid song...I would say you took something and made it big....

Brilliant Farrell and Bobby. I dig the vocal on this, its got a bit of a mysterious quality. But a great song, everything sounds great and I love that liberal sprinkling of lead guitar.

You did a great job on this Farrell. There's some great guitar work through the whole track and you really produced a killer track from something that must have been quite different to start with. I agree with bruno, there's a definite hint of BOC in the main riffy guitar (which sounds fab), I also enjoyed the bass work underneath all of this.

Great track, I hope your pal likes it!

Magic, great song, great performance and great production. Love the tone on the guitar. A top class post.   Willie
