Update: I just got a little Zoom H2n recorder and used that (XY stereo mic setting), and a Nikon D3200 camera to record this video.  I used Reaper to replace the video audio with the Zoom audio (mastered in Reaper).  I did all this pretty quickly the day after receiving the H2n, so I haven't spent much time trying to optimize anything (settings, performance, video, sync) (this was my first take after an initial test to set the mic gain!).  But I'm pretty happy, so here it is:

Edit: I put back the "fast/normal" take...the slow version was posted for JP to add dobro to - he sent me the full audio file and I will master that and post separately.

I recorded this using the 3-mic technique described in this thread:

Also, I like to fool around with waves plugins and after reading that Lennon liked to use automatic double tracking and tape delay, I used the "vintage" plugins Reel ADT and J37 Tape on the vocal track. I also used CLA vocals on the vocal and CLA unplugged on the guitars.  I also used MaxxBass on the master track (I used to always heavily cut bass, but now my thinking has changed and I think it needs to be boosted, although the "Mic mechanic 2" unit I feed my mic through has an automatic low cut, I think, and CLA vocals plugin may also).

;)Hello DesOfree...very nice voice/guitar version...I had fun playing for a while with you and the Dobro...
here's a little bit of improvisation here if you want I can make a complete and cleaner version tomorrow. ;)
I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

Thanks - that's pretty cool.  I wish I could play that instrument.  I have sent you a PM with link to google drive with WAV audio files (separate and mix without limiter applied). BTW - I just posted a slower tempo take that I think would be better and replaced the files in the google drive...

Great version, des! I like how you did the multi-syllabic parts - keeps the Lennon flavor going. Love the Waves plugins - they really help to get you there with the ADT, don't they?

Well done.

Really nice version here, like what you did with the vox and I really like JP's Dobro additions! Nice work both of you.

Life is not about the number of Breathes you take, it is the amount of times your breathe is taken away

An excellent recording and performance! The three mic technique works well for you. Sometimes a little experimenting works out, as is the case here.  Do some more!
