Been doing a lot of writing and recording this weekend. It was hard to know which of the many to post  ;D, but I opted for this one because it's a bit of a departure style-wise.

In fact I really can't put it in any genre. Dance, pop, psych, shoe-gazing, prog... all kinds of ingredients.

It has lots of Garageband synth, and lots of bespoke drum parts. It also has my electric 12-string, an Epiphone Les Paul, a Fender Jazz, and my El Ray Lucha fuzz pedal. I moved the fuzz before overdrive on my pedal board - now I know how it should sound. The Boss OD-20 drive zone was sucking the life out of it. Now I bloody love the tone.

I've got the deeds
to the house of sorrow indeed

within the grounds
of this institution
dark eyed inmates
are lost inside a maze
this is an heirloom
for the burned out and the frozen
the gutter's pouring water
and the paths are crazy paved

I've got the deeds
to the house of sorrow indeed

I am the architect
and i'm the tenant too
blueprints for the melancholy
please take off your shoes

this house was built
on a burial ground
and now the poltergeists are leaking out
take a trip
on the roundabout
alternating ghosts
and clowns, and clowns, and clowns

I've got the deeds
to the house of sorrow indeed

This is a very cool song but what blew me away most was the arrangement and production. You really created something a bit different from your usual style with that combination of instruments and rhythmic feel. The synthy percussive parts really give this something extra and, like you say, makes it a bit of a genre bender. If it wasn't for the wonderfully bleak words, this could be really commercial (I was re-reading the thread about your Taxi feedback the other day....). Love the breakdown at around 3:00 and the overall production is really good on this one, one of your best.

More brilliant stuff, loved it all the way through.

PS Glad you experimented with pedal order, it can make a huge difference
PPS Your coulrophobia is showing again........

I must have held that deed myself...or perhaps I'm just squatter. Nicely done here, those synths are really layered well. The syncopated keyboard is hard to believe it garage band. Are you using a controller or an iPad?
Terrific song, the bleakness is what sells it to me.
Rock on!

Just my iPhone 7.

Sorry about the bleakness everyone!  ;D ::)

I like this arrangement. There's quite a bit going on but it doesn't sound too cluttered and works as a whole. Your vocal is good and I like the melody, too.

Crikey - a different sound indeed but still your wonderful, imaginative writing and lovely vocal/accent.

Sounds very good Tim. That pedal seems like a killer pedal with a great fuzz tone. Aside from that, your song creating skills are once again shining through.  Great tune!

This is a very captivating song and the bleak lyrics counteract the brightness of the music perfectly. I always like jingly guitars and often use that kinda thing myself; here it sounds great on that 12-string and those little synth themes are arranged so tastefully. Vocally the performance is superb and the sinister lyrics are the icing on the cake. Great work, Tim; well done.
