I was thinking about waiting till tomorrow to post this, but I guess "no vocals allowed" means exactly that, even if it's just a few background oooohhs or aaahhhhs, so that disqualifies it from the Instrumental Festival.  Oh well.............

Anyway-One day, about a week ago upon awakening for the day a thought came into my head, out of nowhere to google the Spanish translation for "songbird", for a song title, which I did, and about two hours later, in my studio this little tune began to take shape.  I guess it's just the romantic nature of  the Spanish language that I find so appealing to title this song.  I wasn't looking to write a song to match the title.  It just worked out that way.

Neither am I of any Hispanic nationality.  I'm Italian, Welsh and German mix.  The title and theme just sounds so good.
Please enjoy "El Pajaro Cantor" (The Songbird).

Those things we take for granted - when we're young and immature - will surely return to haunt us when we're old and insecure

Greeny

Total class as always. There's a melancholy feel (to the flute especially) that reminds me of The Carpenters - a kind of beautiful sadness. So many lovely, intricate sections and arranging. Excellent!

Frank53

Beautiful work, John. Reminiscent of Hubert Laws. Great progression. Love the flutes and the bass lines.
There are only three kinds of drummers. Those who can count, and those who can't.

Ferryman_1957

I can only agree with Tim, total class John. Lovely arrangement with beautiful, gentle melodies. Played to perfection as always and sup[erbly recorded and mixed as always. Can't really say more, it's another excellent piece of music from you which I really enjoyed.

Nicely done John! Everything flows along with ease. The bass is super as are the flute harmonies. You've fit a lot of instruments into this one with each sitting in it's own space. Well done!
